Star Wars Finally Shows How Powerful Yoda Really Is (& It’s More Than You Think)

In the forthcoming Star Wars novel, “Star Wars: Trials of the Jedi”, it’s been revealed that Yoda possesses exceptional power among the Jedi Order. This intriguing tidbit is unveiled in a scene from the book where a youngling named Bree ventures beneath Coruscant’s Temple to deliver a crucial message to other Jedi: Yoda must rejoin the upper levels because he needs to witness something important. When Bree encounters a meditation circle made up of Jedi utilizing the Force to contain the Blight, she recognizes the remarkable strength that Yoda wields. The novel is set for release on June 17th, with Entertainment Weekly providing an exclusive sneak peek.

In her thoughts, she mused that it required four individuals to substitute for Yoda, implying that his strength as a Jedi is roughly four times greater than the norm.

Since Yoda’s debut in The Empire Strikes Back, he has consistently stood out as one of the most powerful characters within the Star Wars universe, showcasing his immense strength even in his advanced age. His feats, depicted in the movies, are nothing short of magical – from raising an X-wing from the Dagobah swamp to engaging multiple Sith Lords in combat during the prequels. Even after becoming a Force ghost, Yoda demonstrated his power by striking down the old Jedi library on Ahch-To with a lightning bolt as a final lesson for Luke Skywalker.

The upcoming book titled “Star Wars: Trials of the Jedi” marks the finale for adult novels in the “High Republic” publishing series, a project initiated in 2021. Lucasfilm declared earlier this year that they will wrap up the “High Republic” storyline this summer with Phase III’s conclusion. Apart from “Trials of the Jedi“, the final batch of High Republic releases includes the comic miniseries “Star Wars: The High Republic – Fear of the Jedi” and the young adult novel “Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures Phase III – The Battle of Eriadu“.

The Phantom Menace,” Obi-Wan Kenobi points out that even Yoda doesn’t have as many midichlorians (a measure of the Force) as Anakin Skywalker does, suggesting Yoda is powerful but Anakin could potentially be more so. A scene in “Trials of the Jedi” further highlights Yoda’s strength. This scene indicates that four fully trained adult Jedi are needed to accomplish what Yoda was doing alone.

As a passionate Star Wars fan, I must admit it’s deeply disappointing that we may never witness the High Republic era Yoda unleashing his full power on screen. The series “The Acolyte,” set during this intriguing timeframe, unfortunately got terminated after only one season, hinting at Yoda’s role in the finale but ultimately leaving us yearning for more. It would have been captivating to explore how skilled showrunners might have portrayed the depth of Yoda’s abilities on the small screen. However, this book offers fans an enriching perspective on just how formidable Yoda truly was with the Force.
