Star Wars Jedi 3 Confirmed to Be the Final Game in the Series

As a dedicated Star Wars Jedi series fan, I am beyond ecstatic about the news that the next installment will be the final chapter in this thrilling trilogy. Ever since I first picked up my lightsaber as Cal Kestis in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, I’ve been hooked on his journey and can hardly wait to see how it concludes. It’s a bittersweet feeling knowing that this will be the end of an era, but I trust Respawn Entertainment to deliver a fitting finale.

Respawn Entertainment’s work on the final game in the Star Wars Jedi series, tentatively titled “Star Wars Jedi 3“, has been officially confirmed by Electronic Arts. Following the release of last year’s “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor”, actor Cameron Monaghan (portraying protagonist Cal Kestis) hinted that Respawn was already developing a third installment. However, information about this upcoming adventure for Cal has been scarce since then. Recently, Electronic Arts shared some initial details about the game, providing a glimpse into what fans can expect.

During EA’s Investor Day in 2024, company president Laura Miele announced that the next installment in the Star Wars Jedi series would mark the end of the series. Few specific details were provided about the upcoming game as it is still in the early stages of development. The only additional information revealed was that the cumulative sales of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor have surpassed 40 million units.

Approximately 40 million enthusiasts of Star Wars have engaged with the character, Cal Kestis, as he embarks on his journey towards becoming a strong Jedi, as mentioned by Miele. Respawn Entertainment is putting in great effort to deliver the concluding part of this captivating tale for the players to experience.

The idea of Star Wars Jedi being a trilogy is something that we’ve known about for a little over a year. In proximity to the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, director Stig Asmussen said that those at Respawn always intended for the series to be comprised of three games in total. Now it’s known that this dream will become a reality, although curiously, without Asmussen at the helm. The director of both Fallen Order and Survivor left Respawn in the back half of 2023 to establish his own studio. At the time of this writing, it’s not known who will direct Star Wars Jedi 3, although more details should emerge in the months and years ahead.

In other news, EA has announced this week that the forthcoming installment of the Battlefield series will revisit a contemporary setting and focus primarily on 64-player multiplayer battles. Further details about this unnamed game within the franchise are expected to surface in 2025.
