Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Gets Update From Developer

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and apprehension regarding the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake. Having witnessed numerous projects get delayed or canceled during my gaming journey, I can’t shake off the fear that this might be another instance where we’re left hanging.

The update for the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is out, but it’s a brief one that doesn’t provide much new information for eager Star Wars enthusiasts. However, what it does clarify is that the project continues to progress, something that had been uncertain for some. To refresh your memory, the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was initially announced on September 9, 2021, and was being developed by Aspyr Media for release on PS5 and PC.

Back in August 2022, it became known that the developer of the game had been changed. To be more precise, Saber Interactive took over from Aspyr Media. As explained by Embracer Group, the company that owns both entities, this change was made to maintain a high level of quality for the game. At that time, they also mentioned that they did not anticipate this transition would cause any delay in the release of the game.

After that period, no significant development has been shared about the game. However, there has been a recent update. Yet again, this update doesn’t disclose any substantial information, but it does verify that the project is still ongoing.

According to Tim Willits, Chief Creative Officer at Saber Interactive, the team is currently engrossed in development work. They’ll provide updates when it’s appropriate to do so.

At this moment, our main priority lies with development. We eagerly anticipate being able to reveal more details at an appropriate time, as shared by Willits during his conversation with IGN.

Unfortunately, the update provided is concise and there’s no definite timeline for a more detailed one. If the game remains exclusive to PlayStation, like for the PS5 console, then it might be revealed during a PlayStation State of Play event. There are whispers of a new State of Play happening soon, but it’s uncertain if this game will appear given Saber Interactive’s other project schedules. However, there’s a possibility it could still show up. Another potential occasion is The Game Awards in December. If we were to wager, we wouldn’t bet on seeing this game this year.
