Star Wars’ Lando is dead!

As a devoted fan of both Star Wars and Donald Glover’s captivating portrayal of Lando Calrissian, I was initially heartbroken to hear about the potential demise of my beloved character. Having followed Lando’s journey since his introduction in the original trilogy, it felt like a bitter pill to swallow that he might no longer grace our screens.

In 2018, the standout performer in “Solo: A Star Wars Story” was Donald Glover portraying Lando Calrissian. The character garnered such a massive following that a Disney+ series centered around him was announced in 2020. However, Justin Simien, the creator, writer, and director of “Dear White People,” which ran for three seasons, has recently disclosed a shocking turn of events: Lando is no more!

“He expressed his feelings, stating, ‘It was extremely well-prepared, yet unfortunately, it didn’t work out.’ He shared that there were Bibles, concept art, scripts, but it wasn’t destined for completion. For him, the project required a raw and honest approach, saying, ‘I must fully embrace my emotions. I have to allow myself to feel sadness and discomfort.’ He continued, ‘This project carries with me invaluable experiences that I will carry forward into future projects. Though I can’t reclaim the plot or intellectual property, I retain the lessons learned as a creator, which are irreplaceable.'”

Despite some uncertainty about the reasons, it’s been announced that Simien is working on a comedic live-action Star Trek series featuring Tawny Newsome.

Given that new Star Wars movies are being made, the rumor of Lando’s demise may prove to be premature. There remains a chance that a Lando-centric television series could yet materialize.
