As a seasoned gamer with Star Wars and Ubisoft titles under my belt, I must say, the unveiling of the post-launch roadmap for Star Wars Outlaws has left me eagerly anticipating the adventures that await us gamers. The prospect of encountering Lando Calrissian in Story Pack 1 is certainly tantalizing, but it’s Hondo Ohnaka and his story, A Pirate’s Fortune, that truly piques my interest.
Yesterday, Ubisoft unveiled a post-release plan for the game Star Wars Outlaws. It appears that those who buy the season pass will receive additional content, such as two Story Packs. These Story Packs will offer new stories set within the game’s universe and will have the main character, Kay Vess, encountering two well-known characters from the franchise. The first Story Pack features Lando Calrissian, a character that most Star Wars fans across the galaxy should recognize. However, Story Pack 2 focuses on the lesser-known character Hondo Ohnaka, and its title is fittingly called “A Pirate’s Fortune.”
For individuals not acquainted with Hondo, a character introduced in the series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars“, he initially led the Ohnaka Gang. In his initial appearances, Hondo appeared to be a nuisance for both the Republic and the Trade Federation, managing to capture Count Dooku, as well as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. By the time of the Galactic Civil War, Hondo remained a pirate but started collaborating more with the Rebellion’s heroes. He made recurring appearances in “Star Wars Rebels“. Despite his self-centered nature, it was evident that he favored Ezra Bridger and the Ghost crew over the Empire.
In recent years, Hondo, originally known from animated series like Clone Wars and Rebels, has gained more recognition among audiences. At Disney Parks’ Galaxy’s Edge, this character stands out as a key figure in the Smuggler’s Run attraction. Here, Hondo is given voice by Jim Cummings, who also lent his talent to the character in both shows. As for the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws, it remains undecided whether Cummings will resume the role; however, if he does, it could create a delightful connection between the game and Hondo’s past adventures.
The game titled “A Pirate’s Fortune” isn’t scheduled for release until spring 2025, meaning we might have a wait on our hands for more details. At the moment, Ubisoft has only confirmed that character Hondo will be pursuing unfinished business in the DLC.
