Actress Naomi Ackie, famously known for her role as Jannah, the stormtrooper-turned-freedom-fighter in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker“, has expressed her readiness to reprise the character in the upcoming “New Jedi Order” movie. During a promotional event at the Sundance Film Festival for her new film “Sorry, Baby”, Ackie spoke with Screen Rant and hinted at a potential return to the Star Wars universe. “If Lucasfilm calls,” she said, implying that she’s waiting for them. “Star Wars, let’s make it happen! I hope they contact me, we’ll see if my schedule allows!

At Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023, it was announced that “New Jedi Order” is an upcoming standalone film, happening 15 years after the events of “The Rise of Skywalker.” Daisy Ridley will reprise her role as Rey, who will lead a new phase for the Jedi Order. Over the past few years, this project has faced challenges in production, going through multiple screenwriters. Most recently, George Nolfi, co-writer of “The Bourne Ultimatum,” has taken over scriptwriting duties from Steven Knight. In the movie “The Rise of Skywalker”, Ackie made her first appearance as the character Jannah, playing a secondary role. During their search for the Sith wayfinder, Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron encountered Jannah on Kef Bir. It’s revealed that before defecting, Jannah was part of the First Order. In the film, she and her team switch allegiance to the Resistance, contributing to the Battle of Exegol. By the end of “The Rise of Skywalker”, it appears that Jannah will be joining Lando Calrissian on a quest to find her long-lost family.

As a die-hard Star Wars fan, I can’t help but wonder when the New Jedi Order might start rolling cameras.
