Star Wars Seemingly Confirms Ahsoka’s Fate in the Most Unexpected Way Possible

As a devoted Star Wars fan, I’ve always wondered about the fate of Ahsoka Tano, my favorite character from the Clone Wars era. She was a central figure in both Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, and more recently, Rosario Dawson breathed life into her in The Mandalorian and her own series, Ahsoka. However, the sequel trilogy left us in the dark about Ahsoka’s whereabouts. That might change soon, though, as hinted by a recent development. Interestingly enough, this revelation comes from the movie that concludes the sequel trilogy, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker #5. Spoiler Alert: What follows might spoil your experience if you haven’t seen it yet.

In the fifth installment of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” penned by Jody Houser, Will Sliney, Guru-eFX, and VC’s Travis Lanham, we find ourselves in a storyline preceding the decisive clash between the Resistance and the Final Order. This is immediately following Rey’s revelation that she is the granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine. Having switched allegiances, Kylo Ren rushes to aid Rey, only for them to encounter the Emperor himself. In this confrontation, Palpatine saps their vitality with Force lightning and defeats Kylo. However, when it seems all hope has vanished, Rey receives backup from a phalanx of Jedi Force spirits, with a figure resembling Ahsoka among them.

Ahsoka Joins the Star Wars Force Ghost Army in The Rise of Skywalker

35 years after the epic Battle of Yavin depicted in “Star Wars: A New Hope”, I found myself immersed once more in a galaxy far, far away with “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”. In previous adventures like “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi” and a brief appearance in “Obi-Wan Kenobi”, we’ve glimpsed a few characters as Force spirits, including Yoda and Anakin Skywalker. However, it’s during the climactic battle against the tyrannical Emperor Palpatine in “The Rise of Skywalker” where Rey receives guidance from multiple Jedi, manifesting as spiritual apparitions.

Star Wars Fans Agree That This Is the “Best” of the Disney Star Wars Movies

In the story of The Rise of Skywalker comic, I, as Rey, am encouraged by the Force-ghost Jedi to stand up, but unlike in the movie where they merely speak to me, these ghosts are depicted standing alongside me. Among them are familiar faces such as Qui-Gon Jinn, Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Master Yoda, and Mace Windu. Interestingly, a figure in black cloak resembling Ahsoka Tano is also present, which suggests that if this indeed is Ahsoka, she has passed on and become one with the Force.

If you haven’t seen Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the comic version concludes with Rey winning over Palpatine with the help of all Jedi spirits, but at a high price – Rey is critically injured. In a dramatic turn, Kylo Ren revives her by transferring his life energy into her. This triggers memories of Ben Solo’s past, from his training under Master Luke to being cradled as a baby by Han and Leia. As the Resistance rejoices, Rey lays Luke’s lightsaber back on Tatooine and announces her new identity: Rey Skywalker.

Production is underway for the second season of “Ahsoka”. At Star Wars Celebration Japan, it was confirmed that Hayden Christensen will once again play Anakin Skywalker in the upcoming season. The previous season ended with Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren being left behind on Peridea, while Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger managed to escape.
