Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Adds Nick Frost to Cast

As a seasoned gamer and lifelong Star Wars enthusiast who grew up with the originals and has since been through every expansion pack, I can confidently say that I am absolutely thrilled for the upcoming Disney+ series, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew!

In the upcoming Disney+ show titled “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew,” fans can expect a nod to various aspects of the Star Wars universe. It has been confirmed that the series will acknowledge the classic theme of charming, robot sidekicks by featuring Nick Frost as the voice of SM 33, a droid whose name may sound familiar to Peter Pan enthusiasts, hinting at a possible likeness to Captain Hook’s right-hand man, Mr. Smee. However, it seems that Jude Law’s character in the series has a deeper connection to Mr. Smee than just the name similarity. “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” is set to debut on Disney+ on December 3rd.

In a confirmation to the media outlet, Law explained that the character he plays is similar to an old, grumpy robot who, despite his reluctance, assists the children on their journey. Notably, this character holds the position of the first officer on a mystifying spacecraft.

While SM 33 might not mirror the malevolence of Mr. Smee exactly, it’s important to note that Mr. Smee was much more sinister compared to Frost’s droid.

Frost is particularly recognized for his work alongside filmmaker Edgar Wright and actor Simon Pegg in movies such as “Shaun of the Dead”, “Hot Fuzz”, and “The World’s End”. Notably, Pegg had previously portrayed the extraterrestrial character Unkar Plutt in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.

The law further elaborated on the behind-the-scenes methods that made the droids appear lifelike during filming, leaving the actor awestruck by their convincing performances alongside them.

In essence, you might have anticipated working alongside robots and extraterrestrial beings, but what you may not realize is that these characters come to life thanks to incredibly talented individuals – whether they work with puppets or specialize in animatronics. It’s important to note that these people are just as much a part of the cast as their human counterparts, and you find yourself surrounded by them on set.

He also mentioned that Frost’s portrayal of SM 33 was both enjoyable and flawless, and he found his puppet partners a delight to work alongside.
