Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Confirms a Major Detail About Its Big Mystery (But It Goes Deeper)

As a seasoned Star Wars enthusiast who has navigated the galaxies since the original trilogy, I must say that “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” continues to surprise and intrigue me with each new episode. This week’s installment, titled “You Have a Lot to Learn About Pirates,” delves deeper into the mystery of At Attin and its connection to our young protagonists.

Title 5 of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew begins to unravel why At Attin is so highly desired. The episode, named “You Have a Lot to Learn About Pirates,” sees the crew discovering an ancient pirate hoard containing the coordinates for their home world and the explanation behind their journey there. Proceed with caution, as spoilers lie ahead!

This week’s adventure in Skeleton Crew led us to the distant world of Lanupa. Here, Captain Tak Rennod’s coveted loot was concealed beneath the ominous Skull Ridge Mountain. Navigating this fortress wasn’t a walk in the park for the young explorers and their protective Force-users, but they persevered and eventually uncovered the coordinates to At Attin. In addition, the children discovered that their native planet is the sole surviving Mint of the Old Republic, a place capable of creating infinite riches.

This neatly wraps up several unresolved aspects and clarifies the overall plotline, to some extent. It quickly became apparent that the children’s funds were invaluable once they departed the Barrier at Attin. Other pirates found it hard to accept that Old Republic credits served as their spending money. Naturally, there are still numerous unanswered questions within this tale, including suspenseful plot twists and enigmatic aspects of the world’s background.

Among other things, it’s worth noting that At Attin is just one of eight planets collectively known as “The Jewels of the Republic.” In Episode 3, we learned that three more of these planets may have been destroyed at some point, though we lack specifics or confirmation on this matter. It’s likely that minting currency is only a small part of the larger “Great Work” carried out by these eight planets, but we’re still in the dark about what the rest entails. Additionally, we’re unaware of the circumstances and motives behind the continuation of this Great Work during the Empire and into the present New Republic era. It remains a mystery whether the Empire was even aware of The Jewels, and if so, why they were allowed to endure.

Regarding this tale, we’re getting nearer to solving one of the most intriguing puzzles: Who exactly is Ja Na Nawood? In this week’s installment, he brandished a lightsaber, yet from what we understand, he isn’t a Jedi and his intentions don’t appear entirely selfless. If we’re to help the children return home before the story concludes, understanding his true nature might be crucial.

Skeleton Crew is streaming now on Disney+. New episodes premiere on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
