Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld Gets Surprise Early Release

Enthusiasts of the distant, much-loved galaxy have eagerly awaited its return for a while now. Surprise! The premiere of the first two episodes is coming earlier than anticipated.

According to recent news, Epic Games has announced that the initial two instalments of the Star Wars anthology series will be accessible for viewing as part of the upcoming Galactic Battle season pass in Fortnite. Players are expected to watch these episodes on May 2 at the Star Wars Watch Party island, where it’s said that the storyline will revolve around the exploits of Asajj Ventress, a former Sith assassin, during the Imperial period.

Regarding the fresh collaboration on Star Wars, company president Adam Sussman expressed that Disney and Epic are paving the way towards the future of social entertainment together. This extensive Star Wars partnership provides a sneak peek into the sort of interactive experiences we anticipate. We’re rethinking what can be achieved with immersive storytelling within Fortnite, combining it with one of the most cherished franchises worldwide – keep an eye out for much more to follow!

Originating from the prequel trilogy era, Asajj Ventress initially appeared in the animated microseries of Star Wars: Clone Wars, later expanding her role in 2008’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Following the series’ cancellation in 2013, her concluding story and demise were disclosed based on unutilized scripts for The Clone Wars written by Katie Lucas.

2024 finds the character engaging in a test with Ventress (Nika Futterman) to determine if female clone Omega possesses a powerful Force bond. It’s yet unclear how Omega managed to get past the incidents depicted in “Dark Disciple,” where Ventress assists Jedi Knight Quinlan Vos in assassination attempts against Count Dooku. Showrunner Jennifer Corbett hinted that this aspect of the story will be addressed further, as she expressed excitement about featuring Ventress and delving into her special bond with Omega, as well as her empathy towards the clone.

Tales of the Underworld Tells A New Story

The Underworld Saga is set to unfold a fresh narrative around the beloved bounty hunter Cad Bane, who first emerged in the final episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 1. In addition to his roles in The Bad Batch and live-action appearances in The Book of Boba Fett as a mercenary for the Pyke Syndicate, aiming to disrupt Boba’s (Temuera Morrison) authority over Tatooine, both characters find themselves embroiled in perilous standoffs reminiscent of the West, with Bane seeking vengeance against an old comrade.

2022 marked the start of Lucasfilm’s Tales series with the debut of “Tales of the Jedi,” focusing on Ahsoka and Count Dooku. This was followed in 2024 by “Vision of the Future,” highlighting characters Barriss Offee from The Clone Wars and Morgan Elsbeth from The Mandalorian. Additionally, a previously announced animated series, whose Volume 3 episodes were previewed at Star Wars Celebration, is set to continue.

Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld will be available to stream on Disney+ on May 4.
