In 2022, the acclaimed series kicked off featuring “Tales of the Jedi,” followed by “Tales of the Empire” in 2024. This time around, it delves into the shadowy side of the “Star Wars” universe, spotlighting the lives of two infamous villains. While “Tales of the Jedi” centered on Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku, the storyline concluded the destiny of Jedi Master Yaddle. During the 15th Anniversary panel at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023, Dave Filoni officially announced a second season for this enthralling series.
The storyline, “Tales of the Empire,” introduces Morgan Elsbeth, an associate of Nightsister Witch and Thrawn, from “The Mandalorian” and “Ahsoka.” Additionally, it presents Barriss Offee, a former Jedi Padawan who turned to the dark side and falsely accused Ahsoka Tano for the bombing at the Jedi Temple (as seen in the Clone Wars animated series).
As a devoted cinephile, I can’t help but express my excitement over Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld! This series boasts an impressive voice cast featuring talents like Nika Futterman, Corey Burton, Artt Butler, Lane Factor, AJ LoCascio, Clare Grant, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, and Eric Lopez. Notably, Dave Filoni, a creative genius, is the mastermind behind its creation and serves as the supervising director. Additionally, Athena Yvette Portillo, Carrie Beck, and Dave Filoni himself are serving as executive producers. Josh Rimes takes on the role of co-executive producer, while Alex Spotswood steps up as senior producer, and Matt Michnovetz handles the writing duties.
Disney Plus is set to offer more Star Wars content with the arrival of Season 2 for the series Andor. Showrunner Tony Gilroy, who has worked on various notable films, considers this project as “the most significant work I’ll ever undertake.” In an interview with The Playlist, Gilroy expressed his sentiment saying, “I don’t believe I’ll have the opportunity to work on anything as significant as this. This has been the most important piece of work I’ve ever gotten to do in terms of creativity, effort, growth as a writer, learning, and the importance of the subject matter and its scale. It’s challenging to imagine such a situation arising again.
