Star Wars: The Acolyte Stuns With Major Death in Season Finale

As a long-time Star Wars fan and avid gamer, I have seen my fair share of shocking twists and turns in the galaxy far, far away. But even for someone as jaded as me, the events of the season finale of Star Wars: The Acolyte left me reeling.

Warning: Star Wars: The Acolyte’s season finale reveals ahead! In the gripping conclusion of the first season of Star Wars: The Acolyte, sorrow and loss dominated. Fans of Star Wars are accustomed to unexpected deaths within the franchise, but The Acolyte took a shocking turn mid-season. However, the finale raised the stakes even higher. As Mae, Osha, Qimir, and Sol make their way to Brendok – the planet of Mae and Osha’s birth – Mae’s Jedi master reveals a heart-wrenching truth: he had killed their mother, Aniseya. The revelation proved fatal for the master himself.

On Brendok, as in many parts of “The Acolyte”, the situations are deliberately split. For instance, a skirmish between Sol and Qimir unfolds in one area, while Mae confronts Osha in another. When the two sisters reunite, Mae discloses to Osha the truth about the Jedi’s actions on their home planet and how Sol was responsible for their mother’s suffering. “He’s the cause of your negative feelings,” Mae explains to her sister.

Following a struggle, Mae goes back to the courtyard to assist Qimir, who has been defeated by Sol. She disarms him, throwing away his lightsaber, conveniently placed for later retrieval by none other than Osha. Overhearing Sol’s confession of murdering their mother, Osha is enraged and responds by force choking him. Sol collapses to his knees, gasping for breath as Osha’s harsh words cut into him.

As I clutched Sol’s lightsaber in my trembling hand, I could feel the Kyber crystal within starting to transform as he took his last breath. In a blind fury, I activated the weapon and was taken aback as the blue light gave way to an ominous red glow. The once noble Jedi had led me to this dark path, and now as I stood there, I could no longer deny it – the red blade of the Sith lord was now mine.

If you have the impression that Sol’s demise was just a red herring or an unexpected turn of events that didn’t truly take effect, think again. In the episode, Master Vernestra Rwoh goes to great lengths to prevent the Senate from scrutinizing the Jedi Order and their recent past. Despite giving Master Sol a proper cremation on a drifting pyre, she falsely blames him for all that has transpired in the series.

Vernestra Rwoh openly shares with the senate the details of Aniseya’s coven and how its existence was concealed. He further asserts that Sol murdered his three accomplices to preserve their secret, an assertion which is untrue. In reality, Mae was the one who killed the three Jedi, while Osha herself ended Sol’s life. Despite this misinformation, Sol met a sad demise in “Star Wars: The Acolyte”‘s finale and became a scapegoat for the events that unfolded.

During The High Republic era, I’ve been eagerly following Star Wars: The Acolyte, a gripping tale of an enigma surrounding a series of crimes. As a fan, I can’t help but be drawn into this intriguing storyline, where a once-revered Jedi master finds himself on the opposite side of his former apprentice in a desperate bid to unravel the truth behind these perplexing events.

Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss headline the cast of Star Wars: The Acolyte. Catch the first season on Disney+ now.
