Star Wars: Visions Vol. 3 Will Feature 3 Shorts with Exciting Sequel Announcements

2025’s Star Wars Celebration won’t be whole without the announcement of something new. Despite the divisiveness that Star Wars has experienced under Disney, its animated anthology series has been universally lauded by both long-time fans and fresh audiences. Given the immense popularity of an anime anthology series set across various eras in that faraway galaxy, it was only a matter of anticipation before we heard about Star Wars: Visions – Volume 3.

Star Wars: Visions – Volume 3 stands out for being the first season of Star Wars: Visions to include sequels. Intriguingly, this upcoming season will not just have one sequel but three, following on from three much-loved shorts: The Duel, The Village Bride, and The Ninth Jedi. To make things even more thrilling, one of these characters – The Ronin, F, or Lah Kara – is expected to star in their very own anime series in 2026.

The Duel: Payback Will See The Ronin’s Return

Directed by Takanobu Mizuno, animated by Kamikaze Douga

In the initial release of “Star Wars: Visions,” one particularly well-received short was titled “The Duel.” This creative piece reimagined the Jedi versus Sith conflict in a feudal Japanese setting. It wasn’t a question of “if” but rather “when” this short would receive a follow-up, as hints towards a sequel to “The Duel” were dropped earlier this year. At the “Star Wars” Celebration 2025 event, director Takanobu Mizuno officially announced the upcoming sequel with an enthusiastic statement.

As Mizuno suggests, the Ronin character continues to eliminate more Sith enemies. On his travels, he encounters Anee-San – a Jedi Grandmaster who shares a secret past with him. So far, details about the plot in “The Duel: Payback” are scarce. However, given the title and the snippets shown during its presentation, it seems that vengeance and grudges will likely be significant themes in Ronin’s comeback. It was not confirmed during the short’s panel if Tee would reprise his role as the enigmatic Ronin, but it wouldn’t be unexpected.

The Lost Ones Will Bring F Back From The Village Bride

Directed by Hitoshi Haga, animated by Kinema Citrus

During the panel for Star Wars: Visions, it was announced as the second sequel, titled The Lost Ones, a continuation of The Village Bride storyline. A glimpse at the short suggested that it follows a character named F as she explores a new village. However, an eerie situation unfolds when children start disappearing. While details are scarce, director Hitoshi Haga hinted that a mysterious figure is responsible for some unsettling events.

The Village Bride” has been acclaimed as one that stands out among others due to its unique approach. The episode was highly appreciated for its deliberate pace and focus on in-depth character development, rather than the more conventional Star Wars-style fan service. In a similar vein, it can be anticipated that “The Lost Ones” will further explore F’s narrative, as one of the few remaining Padawans who managed to evade the carnage of Order 66.

The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope Will Get 2 Sequels

Directed by Naoyoshi Shiotani, animated by Production I.G.

The most unexpected news was the unveiling that the Ninth Jedi would be developed into a complete anime series, titled “The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope”. This spin-off is set to appear in “Star Wars: Visions Volume 3″, and will directly follow the original story. In this continuation, Lah Kara will embark on her journey as the ninth member of the new Jedi Order, and we’ll learn more about the other eight Jedi who have yet to be introduced, as only four have been presented so far.

Currently, it’s been made clear that “Child of Hope” is set as a standalone episode, distinct from the series’ opening episode. On the other hand, the upcoming sequel will be helmed by Naoyoshi Shiotani instead of Kenji Kamiyama who previously wrote and directed “The Ninth Jedi”. Kamiyama chose to relinquish directing responsibilities for this project so that he could focus on supervising “Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi” as its director.

In the meantime, “Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi” will continue Lah Kara’s quest to find her father. This anime series will further develop the lore that was initially presented in the short film. Fans can anticipate learning more about the Kyber Crystals in this version of the Star Wars universe. Although these elements won’t be part of the Star Wars films’ canon, it’s still thrilling to know that one of the most well-received shorts from “Star Wars: Visions” is being turned into a full series. If “Star Wars: Visions'” first anime series proves successful, it wouldn’t be unexpected for a sequel season or even a film to follow. “Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi” is slated to air in 2026.

The first two volumes of Star Wars: Visions are currently available for streaming only on Disney+. On October 29, 2025, you can stream the third volume as well.
