Star Wars Zero Company, a new Star Wars turn-based tactics game coming to Xbox and PC, receives its first trailer and gameplay details

Back on April 14, 2025, Electronic Arts unveiled a fresh turn-based tactics game set within the Star Wars universe, titled ‘Star Wars Zero Company’. Now, during today’s Star Wars Celebration Japan event, we have a complete reveal of this game, thanks to an engaging cinematic trailer and an insightful interview with developers from Bit Reactor and Respawn Entertainment.

This newly revealed Star Wars game, set for launch in 2026, will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and personal computers. Here’s what we currently know about the game.

The game titled “Star Wars Zero Company” is a solitary, tactical turn-based experience created by Bit Reactor, in partnership with Respawn Entertainment (known for developing Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor), as well as Lucasfilm Games, and it’s published by Electronic Arts.

The game takes place during the time of the Clone Wars, and players assume the role of Hawks, a former Republic officer. Hawks is given the responsibility to command a special team of experienced soldiers from Manalorians, Clone Troopers, Astromechs, and even Jedi on a covert operation to annihilate a dangerous enemy force that poses a threat to the entire galaxy.

As an analyst, I’d recount it this way: I’ll guide my team through an extraordinary solo journey across the cosmos, tackling investigations and strategic battles along the way. During downtime between missions, I’ll construct a command center where I can dispatch informants to spy on adversaries and recruit customizable or freshly-crafted Star Wars characters for my squad.

Players have the option to tailor the look and battle role of the Hawk character, adjusting them according to individual playing preferences, while ensuring their skills complement the team’s strategy during combat.

In Star Wars Zero Company, battles will be played out in a series where each side takes turns, much like games such as XCOM, Gears Tactics, or Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. Players must use the surroundings for cover against incoming fire and tactically employ their squad’s skills to defeat the opposition.

While traversing various realms on my adventures, I’ve found that strengthening the bonds among my teammates leads to the discovery of formidable tactical alliances. These connections not only foster a sense of unity but also unlock potent strategic cooperative abilities. In tight situations, these combat synergies have often tipped the scales in our favor, making us a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.

The Force is strong in this new turn-based tactics Star Wars game

I really enjoy playing games that feature tactical, turn-based combat, such as Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, XCOM, Baldur’s Gate 3, Wasteland 3, and Shadow of the Tavern, among others.

It’s absolutely fantastic to find a Star Wars strategy game featuring turn-based combat set in the Clone Wars period (my preferred era of Star Wars content after the original trilogy movies).

After learning that we have the freedom to assemble any Star Wars team imaginable, ranging from a diverse group including Jedi, Mandalorians, and Clone Troopers, to an entire squad composed solely of Astromech droids.

2026 can’t come soon enough for me as I eagerly anticipate diving back into the Star Wars universe, especially with the chance to play its inaugural turn-based tactics game on my Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, or PC!
