Star Wars: Zero Company is the Title of the Tactics Game by Respawn and Bit Reactor – Rumour

At the upcoming Star Wars Celebration, it’s anticipated that Respawn and Bit Reactor will reveal a new turn-based tactics game set in the Star Wars universe. However, additional rumors and leaks have surfaced, offering further insights into the game. The most recent leak, from Mp1st’s Kurakasis, suggests that the title of the game could be Star Wars: Zero Company.

Based on Kurakasis’ past history of leaks, it appears that the rumored title could very well be the one revealed during the game unveiling on April 19. Internally, the game is known as “Bruno.

The recently disclosed title continues the revelations from last month, offering more insights into the forthcoming game. Tentatively titled “Star Wars: Zero Company“, this game is rumored to be an isometric strategy game with turn-based mechanics, reminiscent of titles such as “XCOM: Enemy Unknown“. Previous leaks included screenshots, providing a glimpse into the work-in-progress user interface for the upcoming title.

Similar to Firaxis’ games XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2, Star Wars: Zero Company appears to incorporate an element of randomness or probability. From one of the leaked screenshots, it seems that a Stormtrooper can be targeted for attack, with each attack option having varying probabilities of success. For example, a thermal detonator might have a 95% chance to hit its target.

In terms of real-time strategy during gameplay, Star Wars: Zero Company appears to adopt an isometric camera perspective much like games within the same genre. Additionally, it offers players a base akin to games such as XCOM. This base allows for management tasks typical of turn-based tactics games, including customizing a squad’s equipment and weapons, as well as researching and acquiring new items.

It’s been found that neither Respawn Entertainment nor Bit Reactor have shared many details about the game, but we do know it’s being made using Unreal Engine 5 based on a job listing for a Senior Lighting Artist from last year, which mentioned working with technologies like Lumen in Unreal Engine 5.

The game was first revealed as early as January 2022, with Bit Reactor being one of the primary studios involved in its creation, alongside Respawn. Notably, this studio is home to industry experts like Greg Foerscth, who has worked on games such as XCOM 2 and XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Furthermore, Bit Reactor has publicly stated that the game’s development hasn’t been impacted by layoffs affecting several Electronic Arts-affiliated studios.

It was revealed in March that the new game will be presented during the upcoming “Star Wars” Celebration, following whispers about its release as early as January. Additionally, it has been hinted that Respawn Entertainment and Bit Reactor will share a sneak peek of the game via a trailer during this announcement.

Thus far, there’s no official word on which platforms it will be available on, but it’s anticipated that “Star Wars: Zero Company” will make its way onto PC (through both Steam and the Epic Games Store), as well as the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.
