In the game “Star Wars Zero Company,” developers Bit Reactor and Remedy Entertainment aim to evoke the war-torn atmosphere of the Star Wars universe, as depicted in spin-off projects such as the film “Rogue One” and the animated series “Clone Wars.” During an interview with GameSpot, creative director Greg Foertsch highlighted their focus on showcasing the grittier elements within this setting.
Speaking about The Clone Wars in particular, Foertsch noted that it provided a unique perspective on war within the Star Wars universe. Although it retained the typical elements of Star Wars, The Clone Wars often shifted focus to ordinary soldiers, offering fresh and captivating narratives through this lens.
Foertsch stated that “The Clone Wars” provides us with many useful tools for the game, which is fantastic. However, what’s intriguing is that we haven’t encountered such zoom levels in “Clone Wars” before, making it quite unique. This also presented a lot of exciting possibilities for game design, enabling us to create an engaging story with compelling mechanics. Essentially, this provided us with an opportunity to explore various aspects and expand our creative horizons.
Kelsey Sharpe, the creative lead, discussed how the narrative structure in Clone Wars enabled the series to delve into uplifting themes while maintaining a realistic ambiance. Similarly, the gritty setting of Rogue One was highlighted due to its focus on a tight-knit group of non-Jedi characters embarking on a crucial mission.
Sharpe expressed, “Even with a more serious approach and exploring the complexities of the Clone Wars period, there’s always a glimmer of hope. It’s the strong connections among your allies and the creation of legends that defines Star Wars. This is what ensures continuity across all our stories.
Earlier this month, it was officially confirmed that Star Wars Zero Company is indeed real. A comprehensive unveiling took place at the recent Star Wars Celebration event, where we learned that the game will be released for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2026. The title has also been accompanied by a trailer, which offers a glimpse into its themes and some of the gameplay.
In the game titled “Star Wars Zero Company“, players assume command of the Zero Company during the waning phase of the Clone Wars. The game promises turn-based tactical combat akin to games such as “XCOM 2“. Throughout each mission, players can instruct their soldiers to seek cover, set up Overwatch positions, and employ weapons like grenades to alter the course of the battle.
As an ardent enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Star Wars Zero Company, confirmed by Bit Reactor and Respawn, promises a wealth of opportunities for players to personalize their squads. Not only that, but we’ll have the chance to observe our team as they unwind in The Den, a place where additional soldiers can be enlisted to bolster our ranks.
