As a long-time fan and avid player of Stardew Valley, I couldn’t be more thrilled to hear ConcernedApe’s recent announcement that all future DLC and updates will remain free for the game. This dedication to his community is truly admirable and aligns with my own values as a gamer who appreciates developers who prioritize their fans’ experiences over profit.
ConcernedApe, the creator of Stardew Valley, has announced that all upcoming downloadable content (DLC) and updates for the game will not cost anything to download.
Many developers often charge for downloadable content (DLC) when it significantly expands the game. But some developers opt to provide new content as free updates instead. One notable example is Stardew Valley, a highly-praised farming simulation game, which has given players numerous free updates over the years, adding engaging gameplay elements. Rest assured, those concerned about future costs, Stardew Valley’s developer has made it clear that all upcoming enhancements will be available for free.
ConcernedApe Tells Fans DLC and Updates Will Always Be Free
Eric Barone, commonly referred to as ConcernedApe, has reassured fans through X that all additional content and enhancements for his games will be provided at no cost. In response to a fan’s comment that they would be patient with Stardew Valley updates if they remained free, he expressed, “I have no plans to charge for DLC or updates.” This unequivocal statement has garnered widespread appreciation from fans.
Many had believed this to be true, given that all previous updates for Stardew Valley on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, as well as the PC version, had been free. However, ConcernedApe’s recent announcement on X brings relief to fans as it clarifies that the highly anticipated update 1.6 and the next PC update are indeed in progress. I solemnly promise on my family’s reputation, I will never ask for payment for any DLC or update throughout my life. Feel free to save this screenshot and call me out if I break this pledge.
