The Steam Deck OLED is currently out of stock, in both 512GB and 1TB models in the U.S. and Canada.
In their announcement about the store, Valve is referring to “supply-chain issues,” which, given that their handheld device is produced in China, likely stems from the ongoing tariff conflicts.
In the UK, both brand-new and refurbished (certified) Steam Deck OLED models with 1TB storage are still up for grabs.
Steam Deck OLED stock to be replenished “by the end of Summer 2025” with no price hike
On a more positive note, according to Valve’s announcement, they anticipate that the prices for the Steam Deck OLED will stay consistent. To put it simply, they don’t plan on raising the price of the Steam Deck OLED.
Due to current issues with our global supply chain, both the 512GB and 1TB versions of the Steam Deck are temporarily unavailable in the U.S. and Canada. We hope to restock these models by the end of summer, and at this point, we expect prices will not change. As soon as we have a clearer picture of when they’ll be back, we’ll provide an update here.
Not the first gaming handheld impacted
My coworker Rebecca Spear has been keeping an eye on the tariff issue in her report about tariffs and portable gaming devices. Sadly, the Steam Deck OLED isn’t the exception – it’s one of several products that have felt the brunt of increased tariffs by the U.S. government, as a large number of these gaming handhelds are produced in China.
Consequently, there’s been a significant rise in prices and scarcity of products throughout the market. For instance, the price of MSI Claw 7 AI+ surged from $799 to $829, the initial cost of Legion Go S (SteamOS) increased by $50, and new ASUS ROG Ally Z1 (non-Extreme) models are scarcely available in listings.
In contrast to expectations, preorders for the long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2 were delayed in the U.S. and Canada compared to other countries. Despite not raising the console’s price, its additional items have seen an increase. To lessen the impact of further price hikes, Nintendo has moved a large part of its production from China to Vietnam.
I’m in the US or Canada, how can I buy a Steam Deck OLED?
Valve estimates that these models will be restocked by the close of summer 2025. Regrettably, there are no available units at our Certified Refurbished store either. The Steam Deck OLED 512GB is being sold on Amazon US, but its availability and price may change frequently. Best Buy sometimes carries the OLED version, but it’s not currently in stock when searched for.
Will the price of the Steam Deck OLED go up?

Currently, Valve has declined, but it’s important to consider that despite their promise to maintain prices at the moment, future changes might be necessary should tariffs increase or supply challenges intensify. Thus, we’re in a position of watching and waiting.
