Steam Users Can Get 2024 Games for Free Right Now

For a brief period on Steam, two distinct video games released in 2024 are being offered for free. Regrettably, only one of these games is labeled as “Playable” for Steam Deck users, while the other’s compatibility with the Steam Deck is currently marked as “Unknown.” Despite this limitation, it’s important to note that these are relatively smaller titles from the previous year, so Steam Deck users aren’t missing out on major releases. The game with the impressive user reviews might be worth investigating further.

As a gamer, I’ve been eagerly anticipating Soulbound since its release by Schmoovin Studios and Dink back in January 2024. This game has garnered some fantastic user reviews, boasting an impressive 89% approval rating on Steam. What’s more, it’s the only one out of the two games I’m considering that’s listed as “Playable” on the Steam Deck. So, Soulbound is definitely catching my attention and seems like a solid choice for my next gaming adventure!

The fact that this free game giveaway stands out is because the PC version will be taken off Steam as of June 30, 2025. Beforehand, it wasn’t free, but during its last month on Steam, it has become complimentary. Additionally, Schmoovin Studios hints that Soulbound won’t end here, implying a larger and more upgraded experience is planned for the future.

In this game, a ninja competes against a ghost in a fast-paced, side-scrolling multiplayer environment. The ninja’s goal is to outrun the ghost, while the ghost aims to hinder the ninja by taking control of enemies and attempting to possess them to slow down or stop the ninja.

A fresh game now available for free on Steam, titled Holy Clash Cards, was launched by Mttsus and Randomkey Inc on May 22, 2024 – their second joint release. Unlike Soulbound, it’s not marked as playable on the Steam Deck; instead, its compatibility with the Steam Deck is labeled as uncertain. Additionally, it doesn’t receive high praise from users, but rather has a “Mostly Negative” rating.

In June, you can download a free PC game that’s described as a blend of strategy and deck-building games. Players find themselves in the midst of an epic battle between good and evil, with every decision they make impacting their faith’s future and the destiny of their righteous army. However, while Soulbound is available for free throughout June, Holy Clash Cards can only be downloaded for free until June 9th.

Although the free Steam games available aren’t usually standout, it’s rare for significant PC games to be given away for nothing. Nevertheless, there are some notable titles currently free on Steam, such as Borderlands 2. Additionally, other free choices on Steam at this time include a 2020 Xbox game and a recently released dark RPG.
