Steel Seed Showcases Gameplay in New Trailer Ahead of its April 10 Launch

Developer Storm in a Teacup together with publisher ESDigital Games have unveiled a fresh trailer for the upcoming sci-fi stealth action game, Steel Seed. This latest video provides a closer look at the game’s mechanics and gameplay. You can watch it here below.

The trailer commences by displaying a scene that appears to occur at the beginning of the game, featuring protagonist Zoe who is seen resting in what resembles a medical bed. Additionally, we witness the activation of Zoe’s robotic companion, KOBY, as it hovers around searching for her.

From KOBY’s viewpoint, Steel Seed showcases a gritty, futuristic industrial ambiance. KOBY navigates through the seemingly hidden maintenance corridors of an enormous factory, filled with frayed cables, towering robots zooming about. The encounter between Zoe and KOBY is what we witness for the first time in this scene.

In the trailer, the gameplay segments initially demonstrate the platforming skills players can utilize while controlling Zoe. Besides regular climbing on ledges, she’s also fitted with rocket boosters in her boots enabling her to perform a double-jump to clear larger chasms.

As I delved deeper into the game’s platforming challenges and labyrinthine levels, things took a sudden turn for the worse, triggering an exhilarating chase scene. Not long after that heart-pounding moment, I finally got my first glimpse of the game’s stealth and combat system. When it comes to sneaking up on foes, Zoe packs quite the punch – one swift strike is all it takes to take them down.

In this game, confronting opponents directly initiates battles that seem to draw inspiration from Soulslike RPGs. Character Zoe is armed with both a light and heavy attack, allowing players to create diverse combos by combining these moves. Furthermore, Zoe can evade enemy attacks, with accurate dodges leading to what seems like a potent counterattack.

In essence, the lengthy gameplay trailer for Steel Seed seems to present the initial stages of the game without any cuts. It offers a glimpse into the plot setup and what appears to be tutorial levels to help players gradually grasp Zoe’s diverse abilities. Following a prolonged stealth segment where Zoe eliminates several enemies using surprise attacks, the trailer concludes at what seems to be the start of a boss battle.

Steel Seed, initially revealed at June 2023’s Future Games Show, showcased a trailer for the title. The game is set in a far-off future where human industry has pushed the planet to the edge of annihilation. Developed using Unreal Engine 5, its initial launch date was planned for 2024; however, it has since been postponed to April 10th. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
