Stephen Graham’s new drama from Peaky Blinders creator confirms release date

As a movie enthusiast who has spent countless hours delving into the gritty underbelly of London’s criminal landscape through various films and series, I must say that “A Thousand Blows” seems to be right up my alley. The synopsis, with its promise of bare-knuckle boxing, power struggles, and a clash between old and new worlds, has piqued my interest immensely.

As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that the long-awaited cinematic masterpiece “A Thousand Blows” is now set to grace our television screens! The countdown has begun, and the wait won’t be much longer.

Disney Plus has officially announced that the six-episode series will premiere on their streaming platform on the 21st of February, 2025. The cast includes Malachi Kirby, Erin Doherty, and Stephen Graham in leading roles.

The show, penned by Steven Knight, draws inspiration from authentic tales of a band of characters who struggle for existence amidst the ruthless East End of London during the 1880s.

The summary goes like this: “Jamaican friends Hezekiah Moscow and Alec Munroe get sucked into London’s bustling bare-knuckle boxing world. As Hezekiah gains wealth and recognition through boxing, he catches the eye of notorious crime boss Mary Carr, who intends to leverage his skills for her criminal activities.

In the meantime, Sugar Goodson, who rules the East End boxing scene with menace and self-proclaimed authority, intends to dismantle Hezekiah. This upstart’s aspirations to compete in the West End pose a threat to everything Goodson has established. The result is a clash between the old and the emerging world.

New actors joining the production are Francis Lovehall (in the role of Champion), Jason Tobin as Warrior, James Nelson-Joyce portraying Time, Hannah Walters with Boiling Point, Darci Shaw in The Colour Room, Nadia Albina for Whites, Morgan Hilaire and Jemma Carlton playing Maxine, Caoilfhionn Dunne taking on Industry, Susan Lynch for Daddy Issues, Daniel Mays in Line of Duty, Adam Nagaitis with Red Rose, Gary Lewis as Billy Elliot, and Robert Glenister featured in Sherwood.
