As a movie buff, I found it not only flattering to be invited, but also a weighty responsibility, Bartlett elaborated.
The burden of responsibility feels quite significant to me, considering I was just a child when I first watched Dragons’ Den. At 12 years old, growing up in Plymouth, watching Dragons’ Den on TV was essentially my only glimpse into the world of business. It shaped a certain image of what business meant for me.
He went on to say: “Since it has provided me with so much, I can envision young 12-year-olds. Sometimes, people who approach me on the street are 40, but they could also be just nine years old. I believe this is because it holds such a strong connection within families.
Reflecting on my own journey, I recognize that my life was significantly impacted when I stumbled upon Dragons’ Den at the tender age of twelve. This unique experience ignited a spark within me, awakening an entrepreneurial spirit that may have otherwise remained dormant. Consequently, I find myself constantly pondering about the importance of giving back and repaying this invaluable opportunity. The upcoming season of Dragons’ Den starts on Thursday, 9th January. A number of special Dragons will be joining the permanent ones, eager to put their money into promising businesses.
He stated, “I generally avoid television, I’m not a fan of reality shows, and I don’t always feel comfortable when I’m on TV.
Initially, I was contemplating, “I’ll give it a shot and join in for the sake of the adventure.” And indeed, I showed up for the audition, and it turned out surprisingly great.
Reflecting on being a part of the show, Wicks said it was “amazing” working with the Dragons.
He mentioned that they have been very kind and encouraging, praising my performance, which has boosted my self-assurance slightly as I prepare for the upcoming pitches.
