The opening act for Sting, The Christians, has released a statement following the unfortunate incident where their drummer, Lionel Duke, fell during a performance.
Over the weekend, the band was giving a performance at Liverpool’s Pier Head. Unfortunately, Duke, a member of the group, fell ill before Gary Christian, the lead singer, requested immediate medical attention.
An official representative spoke up, assuring everyone that our drummer had experienced a heart incident and was subsequently rushed to the hospital – thankfully, he’s still with us.

On stage, Sting spoke to the audience and expressed, “Our previous drummer is doing alright. Unfortunately, he’s currently in the hospital. We’re all hoping he recovers well. Our thoughts are with him during this time.
A spectator present reported (through The Mirror): “We received regular updates, and Sting performed ‘Fragile’ after requesting that we all keep Lionel in our mind’s focus.
In 1985, a band called The Christians emerged, named after the surname of their founding members. This group achieved the distinction of having the best-selling debut album for any artist on Island Records during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Among their well-known tunes are “Words,” “Harvest for the World,” and “Idea World.” This group is scheduled to take the stage at Llangollen Pavilion on Saturday, 5th July; however, they haven’t shared any news regarding their upcoming performances.
