Stop Playing Call of Duty on PC: Your Sanity Will Thank You After Switching to Console

As a dedicated analyst who’s clocked nearly 400 hours into Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 since its debut, I’ve been a faithful PC gamer – whether on a laptop, desktop, or even my ROG Ally. However, I recently ventured into the console world with my Xbox Series X, and it felt like a revelation.

In my opinion, the gaming experience for Black Ops 6 and Warzone is significantly superior across the board. Frankly, I was quite taken aback by just how much better it is compared to other games.

My primary motivation for making the change was the introduction of crossplay options for ranked modes in both Black Ops 6 and Warzone. Much like many others, I’m tired of cheaters spoiling the game, so the ability to exclude PC from the pool on console provides a compelling reason for me to switch platforms.

But what I wasn’t expecting was that overall, the game is just better. So much better.

Ranked Play is immediately better without PC players

I apologize to the genuine PC gamers (for I am one too), but it seems that the Ranked Play experience improves significantly when you’re not present due to the persistent problem of cheaters. Sadly, the recent update aimed at combating this issue with Ricochet doesn’t appear to have made a noticeable impact so far.

Experiencing Ranked Play on my Series X for the first time last night, exclusively with Xbox and PlayStation players, offered a fresh, distinct perspective. After playing for several hours, I came across an apparent Cronus user (disappointing behavior). However, overall, it was enjoyable. The competition was intense, fair, and the only issue was my own skill level rather than dealing with wall hacks or aim locks. Perusing social media, it seems that many others share my improved satisfaction with competitive play without PC involvement.

Playing Console-exclusive crossplay for Ranked mode is incredibly enjoyable, and I doubt I’ll revert to PC ranked play after this experience. It’s apparent that even without overt hackers, there are many players who seem to be subtly manipulating the system…January 29, 2025

Warzone Ranked is 1000% better without PC. Thanks for the option.January 29, 2025

Initially, there was a lingering uncertainty about the duration required for matchmaking, but to be honest, it didn’t seem to take any more time, if not less, compared to when PC was involved. Despite Activision’s warnings, we often forget that the largest Call of Duty player community has always been console-based. If my rank were higher, maybe it would indeed take longer, but so far, at least, everything seems smooth.

Sacrificing image quality and frame rate but for a better overall game

On consoles, compared to PCs, you don’t have as many adjustable graphical settings to customize the game’s appearance and performance, such as frame rate. This means that depending on your PC’s hardware capabilities, the game might run slower with slightly lower visual quality.

However, if the overall experience is exceptional, does its quality outweigh concerns about associating with obvious cheaters? Is it a fair trade-off to immerse oneself in the same arena as those who are clearly unscrupulous?

On the Xbox Series X, the game appears to run smoothly without any significant issues. While it may not be a graphical powerhouse across all platforms, the level of detail and performance are commendable. The frame rate seems stable, and there doesn’t appear to be much latency or instability. Overall, I would say it looks good.

As an analyst, I’ve noticed a peculiar change in my gaming experience with Black Ops 6/Warzone since the Season 2 update on my PC. It’s not easy to pinpoint, but something about it just doesn’t feel right. My aim and sensitivity settings appear unchanged, yet it feels as though they’ve been tweaked subtly, making my gameplay a bit off-kilter.

Compared to other games, the Series X offers an incredibly smooth and crisp experience. Although I’m not a particularly skilled player, I found myself feeling more competitive even in unranked matches with crossplay enabled. It seemed like the game itself was moving quicker, as if it were being held back on my PC previously.

It’s quite clear that Black Ops 6 and Warzone perform significantly smoother on consoles compared to PC versions. This is advantageous since it means a larger number of gamers using consoles will have an enjoyable experience.

Although I’m not yet a pro at this game, switching to a console allows me to have a go and experience ranked play, now.
