Stormlight Archive RPG to Launch With Digital Support From Demiplane, Roll20, Fantasy Grounds, and DriveThruRPG (Exclusive)

As a seasoned gamer with decades of tabletop RPG experience under my belt, I cannot help but be thrilled at the news that the upcoming Stormlight Archive RPG will offer seamless digital support through partnerships with Demiplane, Roll20, Fantasy Grounds, and DriveThruRPG.

As a long-time fan of Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive series, I couldn’t be more thrilled to share some exciting news with you all! Having spent countless hours immersed in this intricate and captivating world, I can only imagine the level of detail and complexity that will go into the upcoming RPG based on it.

On August 6th, Demiplane will unveil The Stormlight Nexus, which includes a character builder where you can interactively create your own characters, a free-to-access compendium featuring a sneak peek of the Beta Rules, and the “Bridge Nine” introductory adventure as its main offerings. Roll20 is providing Virtual Tabletop (VTT) support for the Stormlight RPG, offering playable modules for both the Bridge Nine demo adventure and an asset pack for the Stonewalkers adventure during their Kickstarter campaign in 2025. Fantasy Grounds will similarly offer VTT support, allowing you to purchase digital rulebooks and enhanced module content as add-ons during the Kickstarter period. Lastly, DriveThruRPG will provide free downloadable versions of the Beta Rules Preview and Bridge Nine adventure, along with a digital version of Chasmfiend, a new magazine dedicated to the Stormlight RPG, available online.

“Johnny O’Neal, Creative Director for the Stormlight RPG at our company, shared that it’s important for us to provide players with smooth means of interacting with Stormlight fans globally. Since we frequently use Demiplane, Roll20, and Fantasy Grounds in our own games, we’re thrilled to offer these same top-tier experiences to our players.”

In today’s world, digital tools have become indispensable in the tabletop Role-Playing Game (RPG) community. With an increasing number of players opting for online sessions or digital character creation and management during face-to-face games, platforms like D&D Beyond have gained immense popularity. By facilitating seamless access to rules, character sheets, and adventure content, these digital services have significantly boosted the popularity of games such as Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, and even new RPGs like Stormlight are launching with built-in digital support from the outset.

“Collaborating closely with Brotherwise Games, we aim to create an engaging and enjoyable experience for fans of Brandon Sanderson’s novels and seasoned tabletop role-playing gamers through our digital partnership for the Stormlight Roleplaying Game,” shared Peter Romenesko, founder-in-residence at Roll20 and ex-CEO of Demiplane. “During the upcoming crowd-funding campaign, supporters will have the chance to experiment with the game’s Beta Rules Previews and construct their characters. We are ecstatic about this project and look forward to seeing players build their characters on Demiplane, assemble their groups at Roll20’s virtual tabletop, and download PDFs for offline gameplay from DriveThruRPG.”
