Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, known for creating the legendary Yakuza/Like a Dragon series, recently revealed their upcoming title. Previously referred to as Project Century, the game has now been officially named Stranger Than Heaven. You can watch the trailer that was presented at Summer Games Fest 2025 below.
The trailer emphasizes its 1940s ambiance, featuring swinging jazz tunes, trench coats, vintage automobiles, and all. From the looks of the trailer, it seems we’ll delve into a 1940s rendition of Sotenbori—a locale that appeared as far back as Yakuza 2, modeled on the actual Dotonbori location.
Although there wasn’t a lot of actual fight scenes shown, the brief glimpses suggest that Stranger Than Heaven includes real-time action combat.
The game “Stranger Than Heaven” hasn’t been assigned a release date as of now. Based on the studio’s past practices, it is anticipated that the game will be made available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
