Stranger Things Casts Grey’s Anatomy Star As Its New Victor Creel

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for both the small and big screens, the news of T.R. Knight stepping into the world of the Upside Down has me more than just a little intrigued! With his extensive background on Grey’s Anatomy and his stage experience, I have no doubt that he’ll bring a riveting performance to Stranger Things: The First Shadow.

As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that one of my favorite characters from Grey’s Anatomy is stepping out of the hospital and into the spotlight on Broadway! T.R. Knight, who played Dr. George O’Malley in Grey’s Anatomy, has been cast as Victor Creel in the upcoming play Stranger Things: The First Shadow, set to debut in 2025. This exciting news comes from Variety. Joining him on stage will be a star-studded cast, including Rosie Benton as Virginia Creel, Alex Breaux as Dr. Brenner, Nicky Eldridge as Bob Newby, Andrew Hovelson as Principal Newby, Alison Jaye as Joyce Maldonado, Gabrielle Nevaeh as Patty Newby, and Burke Swanson as James Hopper Jr. Louis McCartney was previously announced to play Henry Creel. I can hardly wait!

Stranger Things: The First Shadow is a prequel spinoff from the hit Netflix show Stranger Things, set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, years before the series’ events unfold. In this stage play, Jim Hopper’s car refuses to start, Bob Newby’s sister dismisses his radio efforts, and Joyce Maldonado yearns for graduation and a swift escape from town. However, when enigmatic new student Henry Creel arrives, the family finds that their fresh start is far from easy, as the long-reaching shadows of the past prove to be ominous indeed.

In the hit show “Stranger Things”, viewers learn that Henry Creel assumes a pivotal role, first appearing in Season 4 as Vecna, a terrifying and malicious entity originating from the Upside Down. This character not only haunts his victims with their deepest fears but also takes their lives in a gruesome manner. As for Victor Creel, he is another crucial figure in “Stranger Things” lore, having gained infamy in Hawkins’ history due to rumors of him slaughtering his entire family – a crime that was actually committed by Henry. Eventually, Victor provides Nancy and Robin with the essential information necessary to free Max from Vecna’s dark influence.

Actor Knight is primarily recognized for his portrayal of Dr. George O’Malley on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, where he played the surgical intern across five seasons. In 2020, during Season 17, he temporarily reappeared in an episode depicting Meredith being comatose due to COVID-19. Additionally, Knight has had experience on stage, performing alongside Patti LuPone in the 2001 revival of Noises Off and other productions.

In regards to Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” the show is planned for its fifth and last season around 2025. At this point, details about the series finale are scarce. However, actor Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin Henderson, hinted that the final season will be particularly intense.

In simpler terms, Matarazzo stated that the rest of the town has now realized something significant is happening, just like we’re accustomed to with this group on their exciting journeys. The main objective remains the same – stopping these events and preventing the Upside Down from spreading further. However, they will face some major setbacks. For instance, Dustin experienced a severe loss at the end of season four, and you saw a dear friend meet their end…

He stated, “The public viewing is most likely scheduled for the upcoming year. That’s our aim. However, there may be obstacles. There are often unexpected challenges when producing a large season, so it’s not a certainty, but I believe the upcoming year is quite probable.
