Stranger Things' Sadie Sink Offers Promising Update on Max in the Final Season

As a die-hard Stranger Things fan who has spent countless hours binge-watching the series, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and concern as we approach the final season. Max, played brilliantly by Sadie Sink, was left in a coma at the end of Season 4, leaving us wondering how her story would unfold.

In the Season 4 finale of “Stranger Things”, Sadie Sink’s character, Max, was critically injured by Vecna and fell into a coma. Although we don’t know yet how much time will have passed before the new season, Sadie has confirmed that she’s been actively involved in her role and hinted at significant improvements in Max’s injuries since then. Given how intense the final season is promised to be, it’s reassuring for fans of Max to hear this news. The production for the last season of “Stranger Things” is currently underway and is expected to air sometime in 2025.

According to Sink, the creators Matt and Ross Duffer were told that they enjoy having me around, which was clarified during their conversation with Variety. She chose not to elaborate on what that specifically means, though, as she simply stated, “That’s as far as I can go.”

Fans of “Stranger Things” know well that the strange world of the Upside Down defies real-world rules. Despite being physically restricted in the latest episodes, her link to the Upside Down might enable her to be far more active in some other dimension.

The Duffer brothers also addressed Max’s role in Season 5, while also remaining similarly cryptic.

“Ross explained to the media that she will contribute to the upcoming season, although he prefers not to disclose the specific details about how this will happen.”

Matt swiftly clarified, “She’s in a coma, you see… What I meant is, Sadie seems to have gained more self-assurance as an actress and in her decisions. We recently shot a scene with her that was incredibly emotional. It’s astonishing how she manages to deliver such poignant performances.”

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve got to say, it’s no secret that the Duffer brothers have been consistent in portraying Max as being in a coma. Way back in March, during a sneak peek into the final season, they even showed us a photo of Sadie smiling from the same bed where we last saw Max. Just to clear things up, they explicitly stated in that post, “FYI, this is a picture of Sadie, not Max. Max is in a coma.”

Stay tuned for updates on the final season of Stranger Things.
