Stranger Things Spin-Off Coming to PS5

As a dedicated Stranger Things fanatic who’s been through the Upside Down more times than I care to remember, the announcement of Stranger Things VR for PlayStation VR2 is music to my ears! I’ve already had a taste with the Meta Quest version, but this PS5 experience promises to take it to another level.

Fans of Stranger Things who are eagerly anticipating the final season will have something exciting to look forward to next month: Stranger Things VR is coming to PlayStation VR2 on December 5th! This game, which has already been released for Meta Quest devices earlier this year, is now available for PlayStation 5 users. The title retails for $24.99, but PlayStation Plus subscribers can preorder it at a discounted price of $19.99 until launch day at 1 p.m. ET. After that, the discount will no longer be offered.

A trailer for Stranger Things VR can be found below.

Unlike other games inspired by the series, Stranger Things VR doesn’t let players take on the roles of the main characters as seen in the show. Instead, it centers around the villainous character Vecna, who was first introduced in Season 4 and plays a significant role in shaping the overarching storyline since the beginning of the series. The game appears to delve deeper into the backstory of this character, providing an opportunity for players to re-experience memories from Henry’s time at Hawkins Lab. Players will witness Henry Creel’s transformation into Vecna, and have a chance to wield his telekinetic abilities. They’ll also cross paths with beloved characters like Eleven and Will. The game promises to reveal how Vecna forms a connection with the creatures of the Upside Down, creating a hive mind.

Fans of the Netflix show “Stranger Things” might find the VR game, “Stranger Things VR“, an engaging choice to pass the time before Season 5 arrives. Although the conclusion to the Vecna cliffhanger from the previous season won’t be resolved until then, this game offers a taste of the Stranger Things universe in the meantime. The Meta Quest version has received mixed reviews so far, with a Metacritic score of 44. However, it’s important to note that this score is based on only four reviews, and one of them is quite critical, causing the average to dip slightly. As more reviewers play “Stranger Things VR” on PS5, we’ll see if the score improves as more opinions are shared.

To put it simply, it’s essential that the Stranger Things VR experience delves deeper into the character of Vecna, a villain that fans are already fond of. Jamie Campbell Bower, who portrays Vecna, hinted at his desire for significant retribution in the series’ concluding season. By offering a recap of why Vecna seeks revenge and how this storyline began, Stranger Things VR could serve as an engaging reminder for fans.
