Starting from February 5th, Mai Shiranui will be part of the Street Fighter 6 lineup, leaving you ample opportunity to familiarize yourself with her gameplay mechanics. To help you master her style, Capcom has shared a Character Guide video, detailing her playstyle and offering various strategies. Take a look at it below for some valuable insights.
Mai’s character is often referred to as swift and dazzling, using her extraordinary agility and deceptive attacks to confound opponents. Her primary attack is known as Kachousen. By tossing her fan as a projectile, she can bridge the gap between herself and her adversary with Drive Rush. While other projectiles may overpower it, continuously holding down the button transforms it into a series of hits (however, you can bypass this process using the Overdrive version).
Hishatsu Shinobu Bachi excels when used for chasing, but works best in combinations or unexpectedly. Hishou Ryuuenjin provides a reasonable anti-air move, whereas Musasabi no Mai is an aggressive dive attack. The OD version of the latter can smoothly transition into another attack.
Following Mai’s arrival, just one more Downloadable Content (DLC) character will be left for the Year 2 Character Pass – Elena from Street Fighter 3: New Generation, set to debut this Spring. Keep an eye out for announcements about her release date in the upcoming months.
