In a throwback to the past, publisher Dotemu has unveiled a collaboration between Guard Crush Games (Streets of Rage 4) and French animation experts Supamonks: Absolum, an action-packed beat ’em up reminiscent of arcade games, slated for release on PS5 and PS4 in Spring 2025.
In a unique fantasy setting, Absolum delivers exceptional combat encounters infused with contemporary roguelike characteristics. The characters introduced so far include Galandra, a skilled swordswoman versed in necromancy, and Karl, the lone surviving dwarf from Talamh. More allies are set to join them on their mission to dethrone the malevolent Sun King Azra.
Absolum’s gameplay offers “magic spells, counterattacks, abilities that can be upgraded, and powerful characters unlike any other.” This game can be enjoyed solo, online, or with friends on the same couch in cooperative mode. Notably, it features an impressive roster of renowned musicians from various sectors of the industry. The soundtrack is composed by Gareth Coker (Ori, Halo: Infinite, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown), and it includes collaborations with Mick Gordon (DOOM Eternal) and Yuka Kitamura (Dark Souls, Elden Ring).
