As a seasoned viewer of Strictly Come Dancing who has shed more than a few tears over the years, I must say that Pete Wicks’ performance during Saturday’s show was one for the books. The emotional weight behind his Couple’s Choice to Simply the Best was palpable, and it was clear that this dance was not just about mastering a routine, but honoring the memory of his beloved Nan, Doreen.
On the Strictly Come Dancing show airing on the 9th of November, Pete Wicks experienced a deeply moving evening.
Previously known “TOWIE” celebrity danced a tribute dance called Couple’s Choice, set to the song “Simply the Best,” which honored his cherished grandmother, Doreen, who sadly passed away in 2022.
At her funeral, they played a tune that he found challenging to hear entirely before rehearsals for this performance began, as Wicks confessed earlier in the week.
During their dance, it was evident that Wicks struggled to hold back his emotions, nearly shedding tears towards the end.
And while he received comments from the judges, it was clear he was about to cry.
Viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the touching routine.
One viewer said: “#strictly Seeing Pete so distraught is killing me #petewicks.”
Another shared: “Pete Wicks’ bottom lip quivering the whole way through the judges’ comments has sent me #strictly
A third added: “Pete wicks got me balling this week! Seeing how emotional he got. Beautiful dance! #StrictlyComeDancing #strictly #Petewicks.”
Pete achieved his highest scores for that particular routine, with a total of 36 points, among which were his initial 10 points given by Shirley Ballas.
But will he make it to Blackpool? Stay tuned to the results show tomorrow to find out.
