Strictly fans react as Shirley repeats awkward mistake from two years ago

As a long-time fan of Strictly Come Dancing and a connoisseur of dance blunders, I must say that this latest gaffe by Shirley Ballas has once again left me shaking my head with amusement. It seems that the head judge is as inconsistent as some of the dances we see on the show – brilliant one moment, disastrous the next!

Fans of Strictly Come Dancing are swarming to the platform, once called Twitter, following head judge Shirley Ballas’ repeat of a previous error during tonight’s semi-final.

Tonight’s show on the 6th of December featured professional dancer Dianne Buswell and her celebrity partner, comedian Chris McCausland, performing a Charleston dance set to “When You’re Smiling” by The Blue Vipers of Brooklyn.

In the end, the dance was given a total of 33 points by the judges – Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke each awarded the pair 7, 8, 9, and 9 points respectively.

In Shirley Ballas’ remarks, there was a slip of the tongue as she referred to Dianne as “Diana”. While commending McCausland on his performance, she stated, “You danced as if you had springs in your shoes when Diana leaped six inches off the floor.

After the error, numerous spectators expressed their thoughts on Twitter, with one fan posting: “Diana, it seems like you’re doing it again, Shirley.” (Informal)

One enthusiast expressed on a social media site, “Cease referring to her as Diana, for goodness’ sake,” while another said, “It’s not right to keep calling Diane Diana once more.

Previously, Ballas has encountered similar incidents, as he’s frequently criticized for mispronouncing Buswell’s name.

In the year 2022, Ballas repeatedly committed an error for two consecutive weeks. However, he subsequently attempted to rectify the situation the following week by highlighting Dianne’s name and complimenting her dance: “You danced Dianne‘s moves quite well.

At present, there are just five dancing pairs left on Strictly Come Dancing, and the grand finale is scheduled for next Saturday.
