Strictly’s Aljaž Škorjanec: ‘I’ve always had a favourite judge – his name is Len Goodman’

As a Strictly fan with over two decades of unwavering loyalty, I must confess that Aljaž Škorjanec’s words about his favorite judge, Len Goodman, struck a chord within me. Having grown up watching Goodman grace our screens, his wisdom and wit were as much a part of the show as the dazzling dance moves themselves.

Aljaž Škorjanec disclosed his preferred judge on Strictly Come Dancing, expressing a heartfelt homage to one of the program’s most cherished panel members.

In an exclusive chat with TopMob magazine, I openly shared that there’s one judge who has consistently been my favorite throughout.

He declared, “Len Goodman is his name, and it will always remain the same. Regardless of where he’s located, I can feel his presence, and I strive constantly to make him feel proud.

Len Goodman passed away at the age of 78 back in 2023, surrounded by his family.

Currently, Tim Davie, BBC’s director-general, expressed in a statement: “Len Goodman was an exceptional, affectionate entertainer who was cherished by millions. His charm resonated with people of all ages, making him seem like part of everyone’s family. Len played a pivotal role in the success of Strictly Come Dancing. He will be deeply missed not only by the public but also his numerous friends and relatives.

From 2004 up until 2016, Goodman held the role of chief judge on Strictly Come Dancing, and since 2005, he has served as a judge on Dancing with the Stars across the pond in America, all the way up to 2022.

Škorjanec initially appeared on Strictly in 2013, eventually claiming victory with his professional partner, Abbey Clancy, during the same period when Goodman served as a judge on the series.

Previously departing from the series in 2022, this dancer is set to reappear on the spectacular stage in 2024, teaming up with popular social media personality Tasha Ghouri as his dance partner.

Over the past weekend, the duo stepped onto the dance stage for the inaugural performance of 2024’s live shows, dancing the Cha Cha rhythm to Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso. Their act earned them compliments from the judging panel.

In a stunning display, dancer Ghouri earned an impressive 30 points, sharing the runner-up spot on the leaderboard. Impressed by his extraordinary lower body movements, head judge Shirley Ballas exclaimed that she had never witnessed more breathtaking leg actions on the show than what she saw from Ghouri.

Strictly Come Dancing continues every Saturday and Sunday evening on BBC One and iPlayer.
