As a seasoned cinephile who has witnessed countless emotional goodbyes on screen, I must say that the impending farewell between Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell feels more real than any scripted scene. Their journey on Strictly Come Dancing, filled with challenges, growth, and an undeniable bond, has resonated deeply with audiences.
Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell, finalists on Strictly Come Dancing, have confessed that they’ve both been moved to tears before their emotional final performance.
On Saturday evening, the pair will step onto the Strictly Come Dancing dance floor one final time, aiming to win the Glitterball trophy. They’ll perform two dances they’ve done before, plus a Showdance as well.
Throughout this season, I’ve found myself deeply appreciating Chris and Dianne. Their connection has grown stronger over time, particularly as Chris, an expert dancer from Australia, devised unique methods to instruct and support me, a blind comedian.
Before the upcoming final, Chris and Dianne confessed that their closeness has made it difficult for them to part ways when the weekend arrives.
“Oh God, yesterday we had a wobble,” Chris said.
Dianne mentioned, “While rehearsing our dance, we experienced a small stumble, and I noticed Chris’s eyes sparkling with emotion.
“I said, ‘Are you all right?’ He said, ‘I just had a vision that this will actually be our last dance on Saturday night. It makes me really sad.’ And then he set me off.
To put it another way, it’s going to be tough – we’ve shared so many moments during the past three months – but honestly, I feel certain that we’ll continue to stay connected.
“I’ve been a wreck this whole week.”
Chris paid homage to Dianne by stating, “It’s often said that people are fortunate to work with someone specific, but I believe it’s not just a matter of luck.
“I think they just knew how good we would work together, and so I’m grateful for that.”
Dianne playfully said, ‘I hope I’ve managed to make you a bit less complain-y sometimes.’ Is it something we can say from now on, Chris, that you might remember this?
He chuckled and responded: “Indeed, I agree with you, and I’d like to believe that I’ve managed to make you a tad more tolerable.
On Saturday evening, Chris and Dianne are set to dance their Routine titled “Couples’ Choice” to the song “Instant Karma (Shine On)” by John Lennon, as per the judges’ suggestion. Following this performance, they will celebrate their shared moments with a “Showdance,” dancing to the tune of “You Get What You Give” by New Radicals.
Last week on the results show, Chris commented about their song selection, saying, “It seems to align perfectly with everything we’ve experienced so far.
“As it says in the song, to be in the final, you know, we’ve got the dreamers’ disease.”
This weekend, the famous Liverpudlian personality will be competing for the Glitterball trophy alongside Tasha Ghouri from Love Island, her professional partner Aljaz Skorjanec, Miranda actress Sarah Hadland, last year’s winner Vito Coppola, and JLS member JB Gill along with his dance partner Lauren Oakley.
The winner will be revealed at the end of the live show, which airs this Saturday.
