Strictly’s Kevin Clifton and Faye Brookes lead cast of Chicago UK tour

As an ardent theatre enthusiast with a soft spot for musicals that span decades, I am absolutely thrilled by the star-studded cast of the upcoming UK tour of Chicago! The combination of talent and versatility among these seasoned performers is truly astounding.

A star-dazzled cast has just been announced for the upcoming UK tour of Chicago.

On Coronation Street, Faye Brooks will take center stage as Roxie Hart, with Loose Women panelist Brenda Edwards and former Strictly Come Dancing dancer Kevin Clifton also joining the cast.

In the upcoming production, Edwards is set to reprise her role as Mama Morton, which she previously took on tour during 2021 and 2022. On the other hand, Clifton has been cast as lawyer Billy Flynn.

Each of them has previous experience performing on stage. Notably, Brooks, recognized for her role as Kate Connor in a soap opera, had earlier played the part of Princess Fiona in Shrek and Elle Woods in Legally Blonde during a tour.

Edwards is also known for portraying characters such as Morton and Motormouth Maybelle in Hairspray, while Clifton has appeared in productions like Singin’ in the Rain, Rock of Ages, and many others.

In addition to the main actors, we’ll have West End and stage performers like Djalenga Scott playing Velma Kelly, Joshua Lloyd taking on the role of Amos Hart, and Jordan Lee Davies stepping into the part of Mary Sunshine.

The tour is set to commence at the Milton Keynes Theatre within the upcoming month and continue to visit approximately 35 locations across the United Kingdom, concluding in August of 2025.

In the same vein as the successful movie, Chicago is positioned within the gritty, underworld atmosphere of its namesake city. The narrative focuses on Roxie Hart, an ordinary woman who finds herself in prison for murdering her former lover. Inside, she crosses paths with Velma Kelly, a well-known jazz singer, Mama Morton, a questionable prison warden, Billy Flynn, a ruthless lawyer, and various other characters.

Back in 1975, this captivating show graced our screens for the very first time. Since then, it’s played at London’s West End not just once, but twice! It’s also taken a tour across the beautiful landscapes of the United Kingdom once over. If you’re yearning to be part of the audience, here’s your chance – don’t miss out on this jazzed-up experience!
