Strictly’s Punam Krishan in tears after historic Bollywood performance

As a follower of Strictly Come Dancing, I was utterly moved by Punam Krishan‘s heartfelt performance dedicated to her late grandfather. It wasn’t just a dance; it was a powerful tribute that resonated deeply, not just with me but with the entire audience and the judges. Motsi Mabuse’s tears were testament to that.

In the premiere of Strictly Come Dancing, Punam Krishan shed tears following her debut Bollywood dance routine.

Krishan honored his late grandfather, who tragically passed away during the pandemic, by dancing a romantic duet from the hit movie “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham,” one of India’s highest-grossing films.

When that captivating performance unfolded, I found myself standing up alongside Motsi Mabuse, trying hard to hold back my emotions. But, as the magic of dance filled the room, it was impossible to keep the tears at bay – they flowed freely all around!

Mabuse expressed her emotions by saying, “Your performance truly touched me,” as she announced her judgment on the dance. “It brings joy to know that millions are watching you shine on Strictly Come Dancing. The way you dance, with your hair flowing and eyes shining, telling a story… It has been a pleasure and an inspiration to witness you in this light.

As the judges shared their feedback, Krishan found herself getting choked up while she and dance partner Gorka Márquez made their way upstairs for a chat with host Claudia Winkleman.

Krishan, with a hint of emotion in his voice, stated, “This means everything to me. It’s as if I’m showing four-year-old me a dream come true, something I never thought I would witness during my childhood.

She went on to say, “This wasn’t just about my grandad who tragically passed away during the pandemic, but it was also for my mother who arrived here at 18 with nothing and was deeply concerned that her daughters wouldn’t be connected to our culture. I wish I could have made every member of my Indian community proud and introduced a taste of India to Strictly!

The fun didn’t end there! With scores of three eights and a nine, the dance pair climbed the rankings, accumulating 33 points – a whopping 15 points higher than the previous week!

Besides the judges, many fans also expressed admiration, flooding social media with their compliments.
