Stylish New Xbox Controller Leaks Ahead of Reveal

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must admit, the unveiling of the Sky Cipher Special Edition controller last month was a breath of fresh air. The transparent blue design not only showcases Xbox‘s commitment to innovation but also brings back nostalgic memories of the see-through electronics from the late ’90s.

Last month, Xbox released the Sky Cipher Special Edition, a beautiful transparent blue controller that allows users to see the inner workings. Xbox has offered a lot of different controllers over the last few years, but the Sky Cipher Special Edition might just be one of the best. Apparently, this transparent controller was just the beginning, and the company plans on revealing a follow-up next week. According to reliable leaker billbil-kun, the Ghost Cipher Special Edition will receive an official reveal on September 24th. Presumably, pre-orders will be made available that day, with a release date sometime next month.

I regret to say that billbil-kun couldn’t show us the design, but it might resemble the Sky Cipher design (shown below).

It can be expected that the Ghost Cipher Special Edition will carry the same price tag as the Sky Cipher, which retails at $69.99. The title “Ghost Cipher” hints towards a transparent white or light gray controller, fitting for October and we’re excited to see its final design. Here’s hoping this signals more translucent controllers in the future, as the Sky Cipher design is quite stylish. In the 90s, transparent electronics were prevalent, with companies like Nintendo, Apple, and Sony showcasing hardware made of clear plastic. However, this trend has waned in recent years. Let’s hope this marks a comeback, not just for Xbox, but also for other brands.

The unveiling of billbil-kun’s controller has left some fans disappointed, as they had anticipated a game announcement instead. A new controller isn’t exactly thrilling, especially considering that Xbox enthusiasts haven’t had much to look forward to this year. However, things appear to be picking up as we approach the holiday season, with “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” due in November and “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” slated for release in December. Here’s hoping Xbox wraps up the year on a positive note!
