2024 saw Rocksteady Studios, renowned for their work on Batman: Arkham series, face another wave of job cuts at the close of the year, as reported recently.
According to Eurogamer’s report, they consulted around six unnamed employees who have been impacted by the latest round of layoffs.
Just like in September of last year when Rocksteady significantly reduced their QA team without making it public, these most recent job cuts have not been disclosed either. It appears that developers from the programming, art, and Quality Assurance (QA) departments have been affected by these layoffs.
2024 proved to be a tough year for the broader industry with a high number of layoffs. As for Rocksteady, their predicament seemed almost unavoidable considering Suicide Squad‘s ongoing difficulties. This particular project turned out to be costly, and it fell significantly below expectations in terms of its performance compared to projections.
Unfortunately, yet again, it’s disheartening to witness job losses due to questionable projects. Here’s hoping that the year 2025 brings better fortunes and success for developers across the globe.
