After approximately five years of planning and creation, Konami’s Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars has been released at last. The title, as you might have figured, is a collection of the initial two games from the celebrated RPG series, with visual enhancements. You can watch the launch trailer below.
According to Shi Nai’an’s novel “Water Margin”, the game centers around 108 main characters who unite in a fight against oppression. The allure is that each character is fully developed, offering unique roles and histories for players to explore. Regarding updates, the remastered versions boast improved lighting effects, reflections, and redesigned portraits, thanks to Junko Kawano, the artist behind the characters from “Suikoden 1”.
Without adjusting the challenge level, you’ll enjoy features like automatic saves, the ability to skip battle sequences quickly, and a revamped user interface. For additional information, be sure to read our review.
The HD remasters of Suikoden 1 and 2, titled “Gate Rune” and “Dunan Unification Wars,” can now be played on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, personal computers, and Nintendo Switch consoles.
