As a longtime fan who’s journeyed through countless fantastical realms and battled countless foes, I can hardly contain my excitement for the return of the beloved Suikoden series! With its rich storytelling, strategic gameplay, and unforgettable cast of characters, it’s been a decade since we last embarked on these epic adventures.
2024 marked the year of the release of “Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes,” but 2025 is set to see the revival of the beloved “Suikoden” series. In March, a remastered collection of the first two games will be launched, and Konami has already shared the opening movies for both titles. You can watch them below. (Paraphrased from original text)
Under the direction of Yoshitaka Murayama (known for his work on Eiyuden Chronicle and sadly departed this year), these two games share a common theme: they both involve rallying the 108 Stars of Destiny to stand up against tyrannical powers. Both games feature turn-based combat, strategic battles involving armies, and unique one-on-one duels between certain characters.
The remasters bring enhancements such as improved visuals, redesigned backdrops, and a host of user-friendly features. Players now have options like speeding through combat sequences to boost pace or activating auto-battle modes. The interface has been modernized, and sound effects have received high-definition upgrades.
On March 6th, 2025, the HD Remastered versions of Suikoden 1 and 2, titled “Gate Rune” and “Dunan Unification Wars,” will be available for purchase on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
