The Suits LA cast is giving fans a very warm welcome to the West Coast.
Viewers can’t wait even more for NBC’s upcoming Suits spinoff, which is set in sunny Southern California! The talented cast members, including Stephen Amell, Bryan Greenberg, Lex Scott Davis, and Josh McDermitt, have hinted that the debut of their fictional law firm will bring a blend of high fashion, love, loyalty, trust, power, honesty, and dishonesty to your screens later this month.
On the other hand, there’s one less-than-unexpected element of the courtroom saga that viewers will likely be the most eager about.
McDermitt, the actor portraying Stuart Lane, disclosed during an exclusive sneak peek with TopMob News that the wardrobe, specifically the suits, has been a common topic of excitement among fans.
Furthermore, it’s clear that the gentlemen from the fashion-forward show Suits LA will undoubtedly dress impeccably. However, Amell hinted that the sunny backdrop itself will be a significant attraction as well.
The former Arrow cast member, who plays the lead character Ted Black, confessed that Black-Lane seems like an appealing work environment. He added, “The stunning vistas and fabulous attire alone make it a place where people might desire to be.
For Scott Davis, portraying the straightforward character Erica Rollins, she thinks it’s the tangled relationships both in the professional and personal spheres that will maintain viewers engaged and intrigued.
According to the actress, what she’s really looking forward to in the show is exploring these enjoyable friendships.
Greenberg (also known as Rick Dodsen) concurred, expressing his viewpoint as, “Indeed, it’s the interaction and chemistry among these characters that viewers will be drawn to.
Although the passion and rivalry portrayed on-screen may be fierce, off-camera, the cast harbors an abundance of affection for one another.
Amell excitedly shared, “Working alongside the rest of the cast has been fantastic,” and Greenberg responded with, “I absolutely adore the fact that I get to act alongside such talented performers.
Indeed, I’m thrilled to share that the latest trailer hints at the comeback of Gabriel Macht, a talented actor who breathed life into Harvey Specter for an impressive nine-season run in the original series.
1) “Don’t forget to catch the debut of Suits LA this Sunday, February 23rd, at 9 p.m. on NBC. In the meantime, check out some intriguing facts about the original Suits series!
Initially, Aaron Korsh, the creator of Suits, wasn’t too optimistic about his script when he tried to sell it. During the writer’s strike in 2008, his agent suggested transforming his stories about a former finance executive named Harvey into a television series. As a comedy writer aiming for success, Korsh told The Hollywood Reporter, “I sat down to write something that mimicked the tone of Entourage but was set on Wall Street. To my surprise, when I finished writing, it wasn’t a comedy or a thriller. Instead, it was a more dramatic piece with unexpected plot twists and turns.
Without anticipating a favorable decision, he went on to say, ” Frankly, I never imagined for a moment that anyone would purchase this series. All I wanted was to create a sample script that someone might read and potentially hire me based on it.
In the process of turning it into a US pilot, the characters like Mike Ross (played by Patrick J. Adams) and their team underwent a change from being investment bankers to becoming high-powered lawyers instead. According to the creator, this adjustment heightened the drama as now, an uneducated Mike wasn’t merely pretending to secure a financially rewarding job; he was breaking the law. Korsh explained that by doing so, it opened up possibilities for many complex ethical dilemmas since the law itself offered numerous opportunities for such challenges.
2. Korsh disagreed with the network regarding their suggested changes. He mentioned that during the first season, there was an insistence on having a standalone case for each episode, as evidenced by frequent instructions he received to add more scenes focusing on the week’s client.
He mentioned to THR that he would incorporate scenes and remove them during editing, “and nobody seemed to mind or even ask for their reinstatement.” The following year, people commented, “Actually, you don’t require a standalone episode anymore.
3. Welcome to New York! Despite the fact that only parts of the series set in New York were filmed there, the crew had to think outside the box when they moved their operations to Toronto. To depict Manhattan’s breathtaking skyline, two massive murals were erected – one for daytime shots and one for night scenes – which served as a backdrop for all office sets.
In Sarah Rafferty’s words, shared on TikTok, she described New York City as being similar to a large shower curtain.
4. During the audition for the character of Mike, a bold college dropout who leveraged his exceptional memory and legal expertise to secure a top-tier legal job, Adams delivered an impressive final statement.
Speaking about the brief run of the 2011 series “Friends With Benefits,” he admitted, “I was let go from that project, and it was quite a public dismissal. Then, I had to face these producers and declare in an audition, ‘Grant me this role. I guarantee I won’t disappoint. I’ll work harder than anyone you’ve ever encountered.’ Those words flowed out of me effortlessly.
5. Regarding Meghan Markle, who is set to become a duchess and played the role of paralegal and future attorney Rachel Zane after appearing on The League and Without a Trace, she arrived at her audition in denim and a strappy top. Finding herself too casual for the occasion, as she recounted in her 2017 cover interview with Vanity Fair, she quickly ran to H&M and bought a $35 little black dress.
It turned out to be a shrewd decision when she needed to change into something more formal. However, what really made her shine and ultimately compete against actress Kim Shaw for the role was her undeniable chemistry with Adams. As Jeff Wachtel, the head content officer of NBC Universal Cable Entertainment, put it to THR: “They clicked instantly. It was delightful.
6. It wasn’t just coincidence that Markle felt a strong bond with the diligent, aspiring lawyer, Rachel. As she expressed in an interview with Marie Claire in 2013, they were quite alike: both ambitious, determined, and always ready to tackle challenges head-on. They also had a habit of being self-critical (“I am harder on myself than anyone else could ever be”) and appreciated fresh, farm-to-table cuisine.
In her own words, Markle stated that her character shares her love for food, as she herself is a dedicated gastronome. Notably, she donned her personal accessories throughout the series, such as her grandmother’s charm bracelet and cherished signet ring. Her passion for culinary adventures drives her to constantly seek out exceptional eateries and innovative recipes.
7. Gina Torres successfully persuaded casting directors to reconsider their decision to assign the role of Jessica Pearson, initially intended for a man, due to her portrayal as a woman in her 40s with extensive experience in her field. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she explained that her unique qualities and long-term dedication to her passion were instrumental in shaping the character. She also praised the authenticity of the Harvard graduate’s performance, remarking that she felt truly embodied by the role.
Playing that character provided her with a major lesson, which was unsettling for some while inspiring for others; at times, she even seemed both frightening and admirable.
9. As I faithfully followed the course of our beloved series, I found myself on the brink of a conclusive chapter when Jessica (once married to esteemed actor Lawrence Fishburne) opted to part ways with the show upon expiration of her contract in 2016. The vision shared by Korsh was one where Jessica would depart for Chicago with her partner, D.B. Woodside, only to meet a tragic end at the hands of an unbalanced former client. In his words to The Hollywood Reporter, he expressed that we wouldn’t witness this event; instead, it would send shockwaves throughout our community, and we would leap forward two years in time following the aftermath.
Despite initial objections, the network eventually agreed, and as Korsh explained, “when we began crafting the episode, we chose to give her a positive resolution.” He added, “This ending definitely keeps the possibility alive for her potential return, or even a spin-off featuring her own series title.
9. In many aspects, Gabriel Macht seamlessly took on the role of the powerful lawyer Harvey Specter. Before the 2011 premiere, the NYC native shared with The TV Addict that his sister was a former Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx, his aunt practiced family law, one of his close friends was a top corporate attorney in LA, and his cousin was also a family law attorney, specializing in divorce cases. With such a legal background surrounding him, Macht has had ample opportunity to observe and absorb various aspects of the legal profession throughout his life. As a result, when he receives scripts each week for the show, he doesn’t need to research or decipher unfamiliar legal terms because he is already familiar with them.
He raised concerns about the shooting location, stating that while he admired Toronto and its crew, he believed the story should be filmed in New York. In an interview with Metro in 2012, he expressed this opinion. Additionally, he disliked Harvey’s appearance, finding his slicked-back hairstyle to be unappealing yet fitting for the character of Harvey.
10. Although fans may have hoped for it, the coupling of managing partner Harvey with Donna wasn’t a certainty in creator Korsh’s thoughts. As he put it to USA, “When I wrote the pilot, I didn’t think ‘Harvey and Donna are meant to be,’ or even ‘Will they become the main “will they or won’t they?”‘. But we did explore that with Mike and Rachel. Should we keep them together, and if so, how would we handle that situation?
Indeed, he acknowledged the passionate #Darvey supporters on social platforms, commenting that they were more vocal than the majority who weren’t involved, and perceived themselves as representing a staggering 240% of the viewership. In due course, yielding to their fervor, he concluded the series with an unexpected wedding scene for the beloved pair.
11. Regarding Macht and Rafferty in real life, they’ve known each other for about 20 years, and their daughters are best friends. This was shared by the actor during an interview with Blast magazine in 2012. To clarify, he and his wife Jacinda Barrett have a daughter named Satine, while Rafferty is married to Santtu Seppälä and they have a daughter called Oona. Furthermore, Macht and Barrett also have a son named Luca, and Rafferty and Seppälä have another daughter named Iris. It’s worth noting that they are extremely close friends, attending each other’s weddings.
12. Rick Hoffman often found himself surrounded by his fuzzy co-stars, despite the fact that his character, Louis Litt, was a cat enthusiast. However, in reality, Hoffman suffered from severe allergies and needed EpiPens and inhalers to be available during filming scenes with cats.
13. Instead of Mike possessing a photographic memory, Adams excelled in photography. Most of the photos hanging in Rachel’s office were actually taken by Adams, and he also posts additional pictures on his Instagram account.
14. While the series saw a surge in popularity among the public when it debuted on Netflix in 2023, hardcore fans have been loyal supporters since its inception. Notably, Olympic champion Michael Phelps made a guest appearance in season three, and basketball legend Charles Barkley was such a fan that he even juggled to secure a spot in season five.
In 2015, as reported by THR, the former NBA power forward turned TNT sports analyst expressed that it was very exciting for him because when they learned about his enthusiasm for the show, they invited him. He stated, “I’ve got to find a way to make it happen,” and when discussing their busy playoff schedule with only one day off on Friday, he declared, “I don’t mind taking time off. We’re going to Toronto on my day off.
15. Regarding Katherine Heigl, she openly admitted that she approached creator Korsh in order to secure a role on the series during its final two seasons. In an interview with TopMob News, she revealed how she landed the part of Samantha Wheeler by reaching out to Korsh herself. “When he mentioned he would be busy for season eight,” she said, “I asked if he needed anyone because I was free.
She admitted it was a quite successful approach. “I plan on using this method frequently,” she said. “I’ll reach out to everyone – the creators of all my favorite shows – and ask if they require any new characters.
16. Korsh had high expectations that Meghan Markle would become a royal bride. Although the actress did not reveal her departure from ‘Suits’ until after her November 2017 engagement, Korsh had been preparing for her exit several months prior.
He shared with The Telegraph a year ago that this relationship was starting to grow, “I didn’t want to pry, so I didn’t ask direct questions like ‘What’s happening? What are your plans?’ As the season unfolded, I preferred her personal happiness over the show, which probably meant her departure. So, let’s prepare for that.
17. Fittingly, the final episode of season seven depicted Rachel Markle being taken to Seattle by her Prince Charming, and the chance for them to establish their own law firm together. However, their wedding was originally planned for two seasons prior, but Mike’s incarceration delayed it.
In the original scenario, our wedding was planned, but it struck me as somewhat overly sentimental while we were rehearsing it, Adams shared with TopMob News. However, everyone was eager to proceed, and I found myself thinking, this is far too much like a TV show. It felt like we were cramming in everything – a wedding and jail time.
In the end, Korsh learned about the discussions and chose to implement a late revision. As Adams put it, “Refusing the wedding seemed much more crucial, so just one day prior, we received the updated pages indicating it wasn’t a wedding.
18. On Markle’s special day with her real-life prince, the entire cast donned their attire together, as Korsh pointed out, they went as a family in 2018. “There were approximately 10 of us when we all went,” he added, “it was truly extraordinary.
And there was no chance of any of them RSVPing no.
Rafferty expressed that we had been working side by side on the show for quite some time, and it was an extraordinary journey. The bond we formed surpassed the duration of our school years with our closest friends. Essentially, he said, we’ve grown to be like a family, and even though we may not be blood-related, that connection remains strong. Therefore, this is truly a celebration of a close-knit family event.
