This year’s Summer Game Fest is set to make a big splash, with its fifth annual event taking place on June 6th, both online and at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles. The event will be hosted by Geoff Keighley, and attendees can look forward to trying out the featured games during SGF Play Days, which will take place from June 7th to June 9th in Los Angeles. Over the past few years, Summer Game Fest has gained popularity as an alternative to E3, a major gaming expo that was unfortunately canceled permanently in 2023.
As a passionate gamer, I’m thrilled to share that Summer Game Fest, streaming live on platforms such as YouTube and Twitch, is set for June 6th from 2-4 pm PT. This grand event will be followed by Day of the Devs: SGF Edition, a showcase that highlights indie developers, perfect for those seeking more from smaller studios. Additionally, the media-driven SGF Play Days will take place in LA, allowing journalists and influencers to get their hands on upcoming games and chat with industry leaders. The complete roster of partners and sponsors will be announced at a later date.
Summer Game Fest Returns in 2025 In June
Since the conclusion of E3, Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest has emerged as a highly anticipated alternative, along with his annual Game Awards. Both events are products of Keighley’s ingenuity, with Summer Game Fest arising from the absence of E3 and Gamescom in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially presented digitally, it has since evolved into a live show and exhibition of sorts, allowing fans worldwide to stream the presentations at home. Unlike The Game Awards, Summer Game Fest’s live show will be purely focused on gaming and related media, without any award ceremonies. Instead, developers will have an opportunity to discuss their games briefly on stage, as well as unveil surprises and sneak peeks.
Last year’s presentation was significantly more impressive than the first one held at SGF, as it showcased a greater number of high-profile titles. For instance, two games nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024, “Black Myth: Wukong” and “Metaphor: ReFantazio”, unveiled new trailers. Other notable trailers included those for “Star Wars Outlaws”, “Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2”, “Kingdom Come Deliverance II”, and “Monster Hunter Wilds”. Among the many new reveals, “Civilization VII”, “Alan Wake 2: Night Springs DLC”, and “Lego Horizon Adventures” were introduced for the first time.
On June 6th, Summer Game Fest will broadcast live from YouTube Theater in Los Angeles across all major streaming platforms, with Day of the Devs: SGF Edition to follow. The “Summer Game Fest: Media + Influencers Play Days” will take place from June 7th to June 9th, both in Los Angeles as well.
