In the absence of E3, Geoff Keighley is taking charge yet again, generating excitement for gaming during summertime, and this year it’s through Summer Game Fest 2025. Here’s the preliminary schedule, guidance on watching, and the UK air dates.

Starting in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, we’re now into the sixth year of Summer Game Fest.

Over the years, this event has expanded significantly, and by 2025, it will introduce “Physical Play Days,” reminiscent of the trade floor era at E3, aligning it more closely with events like Gamescom.

Regarding the event itself, there’s no doubt it will be bustling with activity, given it follows closely on the heels of the Switch 2 launch. Moreover, the absence of a GTA 6 release this autumn has left developers and publishers in a precarious position, as they seem to be steering clear of releasing anything that might get overshadowed by the anticipated massive impact of the game.

But with all that said, let’s see what Geoff has been cooking for us!

When is Summer Game Fest 2025?

On the evening of Friday, 6th June 2025, I’ll be tuning in for Summer Game Fest 2025 at 10 PM British Summer Time! There are even more exciting events planned for later on as well.

If you are elsewhere in the world, Summer Game Fest is on at these times:

  • North America: 2pm PDT, 3pm MDT, 4pm CDT, 5pm EDT
  • Europe: 11pm CEST / 12am (Saturday) EEST
  • Asia/Oceania: 6am (Sat) JST / 5am (Saturday) AWST / 7am (Saturday) AEST

How to watch Summer Game Fest 2025 in the UK

Summer Game Fest 2025 will be available to watch on YouTube.

Although the live stream isn’t available there as of now, we anticipate that you will find it on The Game Awards YouTube channel, the same place where Summer Game Fest 2024 was previously shown.

Since the event is happening at YouTube Theatre, there’s some uncertainty about whether it can also be streamed on other platforms like Twitch or X (previously known as Twitter). However, if that changes, we’ll make sure to keep you informed.

Don’t worry if you can’t catch the live event; it’ll be available on the same channel (as provided above), so feel free to watch it later, even if the event time doesn’t suit your schedule.

Summer Game Fest 2025 schedule: Full list of confirmed showcases

As of writing, only a handful of showcases and events have been confirmed, and these are:

  • Summer Game Fest 2025 Showcase (hosted by Geoff Keighley at the YouTube Theatre) | 6th June at 10pm UK time
  • Day of the Devs | Begins directly after the SGF Showcase (midnight as it turns to 7th June UK time)
  • Xbox Games Showcase | Takes place the next day on 8th June at 6PM BST and features an Outer Wilds 2 Direct

Which companies are taking part in Summer Game Fest 2025?

With only a handful of confirmed events, it’s been revealed that just two entities are participating in Summer Game Fest 2025 – the philanthropic organization Day of the Devs and tech giant Microsoft.

Last year, big names like Sony, 2K, Bandai Namco, Electronic Arts, Epic Games, among others, all participated.

Given that the Nintendo Switch 2 was released yesterday, it’s quite likely that Nintendo will play a significant role at the upcoming event, and we might even anticipate an influx of games unveiled for this latest console model.

There’s speculation that Nintendo could host a dedicated presentation around the time of the Switch 2 release, which makes it uncertain what they might unveil at Summer Game Fest 2025. However, it’s clear they’d want as much attention as possible for their new and exciting offerings.
