Summer Game Fest 2025 Saw 89 Percent Growth in Live Concurrent Viewership Since Last Year

2025’s Summer Game Fest has proven to be a real hit. Based on reports from Variety, the live stream experienced a significant surge compared to last year, boasting a whopping 89% more viewers than the 2024 event.

The gathering featured the unveiling of several fresh games, along with previews of games that have been previously announced and are set to release soon. Some of the main attractions at this event included games such as “Resident Evil Requiem” from Capcom, and a demonstration of “007: First Light” by IO Interactive.

Over the weekend, Summer Game Fest announced that the maximum number of viewers watching simultaneously at peak times for their event reached over 3 million, spread across Twitch and YouTube. Notably, both platforms experienced substantial growth compared to last year, as indicated by increases in average viewership, total watch time, and the number of co-streams.

When Summer Game Fest 2025 was released, it garnered a staggering 8.5 million views on one platform alone – The Game Awards official channel. It’s important to note that this figure includes those who watched the event live as well as those who viewed it later. If we also factor in other hosts and streaming platforms like Twitch, it’s reasonable to expect the total view count would be significantly higher.

The reports show us that about 1.5 million people worldwide watched the event as it happened online, making up approximately 18% of the total 8.5 million viewers. Interestingly, Twitch experienced a significant increase in live viewership, with over 8,900 channels participating in co-streaming the event. This boosted their number of concurrent live viewers to approximately 1.4 million globally, marking a growth of 38% compared to previous events.

2025’s Summer Games Fest was joined by various other events taking place during the same weekend. These events encompassed PC gaming, Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase, and the indie-centric Future Games Show 2025 as well.

At the same time, Valve launched its newest installment of Steam Next Fest, offering numerous demo versions of various games for players to explore. Many of these games were either introduced or received new trailers during the live events over the weekend. It’s important to mention that today marks the last day of this particular Steam Next Fest event, meaning most demos will be taken down.
