As a long-time Genshin Impact player with countless hours spent exploring Teyvat and honing my team compositions, I’ve come to appreciate the intricacies of each character and their roles in various gameplay scenarios.
As I walk along the sun-kissed path during summer, the gentle breeze whispers tales and brings the soothing scent of the grass. Unexpectedly, you and I come across an enigmatic book with an unusual binding as we continue our adventure. The secrets it holds remain a mystery, eagerly waiting to be unlocked by us. The excitement builds as we contemplate the wonders that could lie within!

Summertide Scales and Tales Event Guide
Gameplay 1: Boreal Flurry
In the Boreal Flurry game mode, you’ll need to maneuver around and hit different objectives to rack up points. Targets with a lock on them will be clearly indicated, but be cautious as colliding with targets will result in losing some points. Keep in mind that each shot takes energy, which refills slowly, so aim wisely!
In this game mode, you can use two different buttons to use two different firing modes:
- Speedy Shots: When held, you can fire continuously.
- Charged Shots: After charging by holding for some time, release to unleash. Fortified Floater Targets can only be destroyed by these shots.
Enemies labeled as “Slime Supreme” have a knack for absorbing multiple attacks and altering their form after being hit, proving to be quite the challenging adversaries. To handle them efficiently, consider employing Quick Shots as your weapon of choice.
Gameplay 2: Flying Hatter’s Trick
In “Flying Hatter’s Trick,” there are three distinct game modes. Each mode features unique scoring systems, and targets marked by blue reticles can be drawn towards you. Make the most of your fantastic Flying Hat to amass as many points as possible!
1) A Light Glimmer
In the “A Light Glimmers” setting, the Flying Hat has the ability to draw in a single toy figure each time. With every successful attraction, the Combo level increases. The greater your Combo, the higher the points earned for collecting toy figures.
When an Explosive Barrel sticks to you, your Combo resets and some points are deducted from your score. Similarly, if the Flying Hat fails to grab toy figures properly or goes without attraction for an extended span, your Combo will be reset as well.
2) Goodly Gathering
As a gamer in “Goodly Gathering” mode, I get a grand total of 15 chances to draw toy figures towards me. Once I’ve used up all my attempts, the challenge comes to an end. Each Flying Hat I use can only bring in a maximum of 4 toys at once. The more identical figures I manage to attract together, the greater the bonus points I earn.
Drawing an “Explosive Barrel” in your midst won’t earn you any points, regardless of the number of identical characters you’ve brought along. Instead, you’ll forfeit a specific sum of points. No bonus points are added to your tally.
3) Puzzling Identity
As an assistant to help you understand “Puzzling Identity” better, I’d like to share this perspective: In each stage of this captivating game, there will be a total of four rounds for you to explore. At the start of every round, we’ll give you a sneak peek of the toy figures’ outfits. But just as quickly as they’re revealed, these figures and their accompanying items will be concealed within Gift Boxes once more.
After I’ve collected every toy figure on the board during a round, I’ll earn some extra points based on how many Gift Boxes are left in the game. The more boxes that remain, the more bonus points I’ll receive. However, if I don’t finish the objectives before the timer runs out, I won’t get any bonus points at all and we’ll move on to the next round instead.

Round 4
Gameplay 3: Metropole Trials
In the “Metropole Trials,” you need to divide your team into two groups to participate in a two-part battle. For every unique character present in your squad, you will earn one Valor point. Valor is accumulated by both teams. Once the combined Valor of both parties reaches or surpasses six, the combat bonuses obtained during “A Time For Valor” become significantly stronger.
Overpower foes to increase your Valor meter. Fully charging the meter initiates “A Time for Valor,” bestowing powerful combat enhancements on your allies. This effect eventually fades, but subduing adversaries during this period rewards additional points.
Defeating opponents during A Time For Valor will not continue to fill the Valor bar.
Stage 1
Opposing Lineup
In “A Time For Valor,” having off-field characters with strong Elemental Damage skills like Fischl, Yae Miko, or Chiori becomes particularly beneficial. These characters not only contribute to the team’s damage output while they’re on the field but also when they’re not. Thanks to this perk, their Elemental Skills deal 20%/50% more damage during combat. So if you’re looking to boost your party’s overall power, consider adding these off-field Elemental Damage dealers to your team!
Recommended Characters
In my experience as a free-to-play (F2P) player, these teams below are highly flexible and can be customized based on your roster, especially if you have their 5-star counterparts as alternatives. For instance, you could replace Sucrose with Yae Miko or Fischl, and Kuki Shinobu with Raiden.

Stage 2
Opposing Lineup
As a gamer, I’d describe it like this: “During my adventure in A Time For Valor, my team and I receive a special bonus. Our regular, charged, and plunging attacks deal an impressive 30% or 75% more damage! Plus, we use up less Stamina while battling, saving us energy for the tougher fights ahead.”
“So, if you’re looking to join forces with me and my team, consider bringing a powerful DPS character who shines with their Normal/Charged/Plunging attacks. Characters like Arlecchino, Xiao, or Alhaitham would be fantastic additions!”
Recommended Characters
In this challenge, the teams listed below are as free-to-play (F2P) as they come. Feel free to substitute any character with their 5-star counterpart if you have it available (for instance, replace Yae Miko with Fischl or Raiden with Kuki, etc.).

Stage 3
Opposing Lineup
During “A Time For Valor,” in simple terms, the damage dealt by all team members’ Elemental Bursts is amplified by 30-75%, and their Energy is boosted by 20-50%. Therefore, a character who deals significant damage through their Elemental Burst, such as Raiden Shogun, would be an ideal team member to maximize this stage effect.
Recommended Characters
In the teams below, I’ve included some free-to-play (F2P) options for you. Feel free to swap anyone out if you have their five-star counterpart. For instance, you could replace Fischl with Yae Miko or Kuki Shien with Raiden.

Stage 4
Opposing Lineup
During “A Time For Valor,” all party members experience a boost in their Elemental Mastery for Dendro reactions by 60 points, and an additional 60 points for 3 seconds after any character activates an Elemental Reaction. Essentially, this means that whenever you trigger a Dendro-related elemental reaction, your whole party gains a bonus to their Elemental Mastery.
Recommended Characters
Teams below are as F2P as possible, you can swap out anyone you deem possible if you have their 5-star counterpart (ex: Yae Miko for Fischl / Raiden for Kuki, etc).
Phase 1
F2P Team: Sucrose + Xingqiu + Kuki Shinobu + Collei (Hyperbloom Team)
P2P Team: Nilou + Nahida + Dendro + Hydro (Bounty Bloom Team)As long as you have an Anemo CC, the rest of the team can be any reaction you want. With the Anemo vortex, you can gather all enemies and when they’re in the same spot, go wild with your other characters. But if you bring Nilou’s team, no need for Anemo CC because the Bounty Bloom explosion can cover the range.
Phase 2
F2P Team: Kaeya + Chongyun + Bennett + Xiangling (Melt Team)
P2P Team: Alhaitham + Kuki Shinobu + Yelan + Flex (Hyperbloom Team)There’s only 1 or 2 enemies in each wave so go with single-target DPS instead of AoE. Anemo CC is also unnecessary so you don’t have to bring them.
For the F2P team, yeah yeah I mentioned Dendro-related reactions, but this team is good too so if you don’t have that many built Dendro/Electro characters, Melt team is a great replacement.

Gameplay 4: Figurine Fabrication
During the Summertide Scales and Tales festival, you can earn Starsail Coins by participating in various activities under “Mosaic of Moments.” Use these coins to manufacture an array of model figurines in the Figurine Fabrication section.
At the fair, you can display figurines representing each region’s theme on a special shelf called the “Good Shelf.” During the festivities, feel free to swap or share these figurines with your friends.
TLDR: Just complete the first 3 gameplay and you are guaranteed to complete this one.
Gameplay Rewards
Based on my personal experience and having attended numerous events, I strongly recommend that you take the time to manually claim your rewards from the event page once you have completed all the challenges. Trust me, it’s a small but important step that can bring significant benefits. The excitement of participating in an event and completing its challenges is just half the joy – the other half lies in receiving the well-deserved rewards. So, don’t let your efforts go unrewarded; follow the instructions and claim those rewards to make your experience even more worthwhile.
