Super Mario Party Jamboree Enjoys Bumper Japanese Launch with Over 227,000 Units Sold

As someone who’s been around the gaming block a few times, I can’t help but be impressed by the consistent success of Nintendo’s Mario Party series. The latest installment, Super Mario Party Jamboree, has once again proven its charm and appeal, debuting at the top of Japan’s charts with over 227,000 physical units sold. That’s a significant leap from previous releases on Switch, which is saying something given their already impressive sales figures.

In their most recent weekly report, Famitsu unveiled the sales rankings for hardware and software in Japan. Notably, the new game “Super Mario Party Jamboree” has made a strong entrance into the market. Upon its release, it sold more than 227,000 physical copies in Japan, securing the top spot on the charts. Remarkably, this debut is significantly larger compared to previous “Mario Party” titles launched for the Switch. Specifically, “Super Mario Party” managed over 126,000 physical units upon release in Japan, and “Mario Party Superstars” sold over 163,000 copies upon its launch.

During the past week, the popular game ReFantazio, which had been at the top of the charts, has seen its cumulative sales exceed 16,000 units on both PS5 and PS4. On the other hand, Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO and the Silent Hill 2 remake by Konami and Bloober Team each sold more than 12,000 and 4,000 units respectively.

Regarding hardware sales, the Nintendo Switch is currently dominating the market, selling more than 58,000 units to take the top spot as the best-selling console in Japan for the week. The PlayStation 5 came in second place with around 11,000 units sold.
