Super Mario Party Jamboree – Everything You Need to Know

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the upcoming release of Super Mario Party Jamboree has me more excited than a Toadstool at a mushroom buffet! The Pro Rules and Single-Player Mode seem like fantastic additions to an already delightful series.

In simpler terms, this year for Nintendo Switch – if it’s indeed its last year – has been busier than many anticipated due to the delayed release of the Switch 2. Surprisingly, another installment of the Mario Party series, titled “Super Mario Party Jamboree,” is on the horizon and seems quite promising. As we approach the game’s upcoming launch, let’s discuss some essential details you should be aware of.

OVER 110 MINIGAMES

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled about the prospect of Nintendo outdoing itself with the diverse array of minigames in “Super Mario Party Jamboree.” This party title is set to break records, boasting a whopping 112 minigames – the highest number ever seen in the series to date! The game will offer a mix of different minigame types such as 4-player, 1v3, 2v2, showdown, duel, and many others. Fan favorites like rhythm minigames and boss battle minigames from “Mario Party: Star Rush” on the 3DS will make a comeback in this installment as well!

8-PLAYER MINIGAMES

In the “Super Mario Party Jamboree”, a fresh type of minigame is being introduced where up to eight players can participate in fierce competition. At least ten such 8-player minigames have been announced so far, and they seem to offer a diverse range of challenges. One game requires teamwork as players collect apples and extract juice, while another tests your puzzle-solving skills by fitting jigsaw pieces together. Another game asks you to race against Wiggler on skis in pairs, while yet another tasks you with cleaning Chain Chomps by spraying them with water.

SEVEN BOARDS

In line with Jamboree’s commitment to exceed expectations, it has been confirmed that this game will include a record-breaking seven boards, making it the most in any Mario Party game on the Switch. Initially, four boards will be available for players, with three more being unlockable as the game progresses. Remarkably, two of these unlockable boards are returning favorites, namely Mario’s Rainbow Castle from the first Mario Party and Western Land from Mario Party 2.

NEW BOARDS

In the game “Super Mario Party Jamboree,” while some boards will be reminiscent of previous ones, most are entirely fresh. Out of the five brand-new boards, four can be accessed immediately. These include Mega Wiggler’s Tree Party, which is situated in a tree orchard; Roll ’em Raceway, located on a racecourse within a lush setting; Goomba Lagoon, an island with a shipwreck and volcano in the tropics; and Rainbow Galleria, set inside a multi-story shopping mall. The fifth board, King Bowser’s Keep, is locked initially but can be unlocked by players, transporting them to a massive castle filled with lava.

22 CHARACTERS

In another impressive move, the forthcoming game, “Super Mario Party Jamboree”, is set to break records by offering a whopping 22 playable characters. This will be the largest character lineup ever seen in a “Mario Party” game. All characters from “Mario Party Superstars” are making a comeback, along with some familiar faces that haven’t been part of a “Mario Party” game for several years now. For instance, Spike, who last appeared in “Mario Party 10” on the Wii U over eight years ago, is back to join the fun once again.

NEW CHARACTERS

In “Super Mario Party Jamboree,” you’ll recognize many familiar faces among the playable characters, but what’s exciting is that it’s introducing some newcomers to the Mario Party scene for the very first time! These fresh faces include Pauline, the Mayor of New Donk City, and the beloved quirky character, Ninji.

NEW ITEMS

At the Jamboree, a record-breaking 37 diverse items will be available for players to utilize. Many of these items are entirely new additions, such as a teleporting warp pipe, exchangeable mushroom tickets, a warp box for direct transportation to a shop, items tied to specific elements on certain boards, and more exciting novelties.

JAMBOREE BUDDIES

In the game “Super Mario Party Jamboree”, allies will transform into something new, called Jamboree Buddies. Out of the 22 characters you can play with, 10 of them may show up at random on the boards as Jamboree Buddies. If you manage to reach these characters, a minigame challenge ensues. Win this mini-game, and the character joins your party. Each Jamboree Buddy brings unique skills to help you, such as Yoshi copying items from opponents, Peach allowing you to buy items at half price in shops, or Luigi giving you better chances of rolling higher numbers when you roll a die.

PRO RULES

Should you aim for a more challenging experience in the game “Super Mario Party Jamboree”, you can activate Pro Rules. This feature alters several in-game regulations to better suit your preferences. For instance, the maximum number of turns per player is now capped at 12. Additionally, players will have the option to select an item to begin a board with (from a restricted pool). Item shops will also have limited inventory, and hidden blocks won’t appear anymore. Certain blocks will have new or modified rules as well.

SINGLE-PLAYER MODE

Playing a Mario Party game is undeniably best when enjoyed multiplayer, but if you’re interested in trying it solo, there’s an option just for you: Party-Planner Trek, the single-player mode of Super Mario Party Jamboree. This mode allows you to set up minigames on the game’s five new boards all by yourself. As you complete quests and minigames, you’ll earn Mini Stars and decorative items to adorn the Party Plaza.

KOOPATHLON MODE

The upcoming event at Super Mario Party Jamboree is planning to debut an expansive multiplayer feature called Koopathlon, which resembles the Coinathlon mode from Mario Party: Star Rush, but with a significant twist – it can accommodate up to 20 players in competition. This adjustment will naturally lead to the creation of fresh minigames tailored for a larger player base, where the objective is survival amidst turmoil reminiscent of Fall Guys-style mayhem.

BOWSER KABOOM SQUAD

In the fresh addition to “Super Mario Party Jamboree,” known as Bowser Kaboom Squad, up to eight players collaborate in a shared experience. Their objective is to unite forces against Imposter Bowser over five consecutive rounds. Each game within this mode consists of mini-games, bomb-throwing at Bowser, and additional challenges.

OTHER MODES

Among the highlights of Jamboree are the main party mode, Party-Planner Trek mode for solo players, the turbulent Koopathlon, and Bowser Kaboom Squad collaboration. However, there’s much more to explore! Paratroopa Flight School will challenge two players to coordinate using motion controls in a flight minigame. Rhythm Kitchen is a four-player cooperative cooking rhythm minigame. Lastly, Toad’s Factory offers you 30 progressively challenging levels in another four-player cooperative endeavor.

FILE SIZE

According to the Nintendo eShop, the upcoming game “Super Mario Party Jamboree” is expected to have a file size of approximately 5.3 GB. This is typical for games on the Nintendo Switch and is quite small compared to most games released on other platforms these days. Interestingly, the previous Super Mario Party titles had smaller storage requirements. For instance, “Super Mario Party” and “Mario Party Superstars” each required only about 2.9 GB of space.
