Super Mario Party Jamboree First Update Live, Here’s What It Does

As a dedicated Super Mario fan who has been following the series since its humble beginnings on the NES, I must admit that I was eagerly anticipating the first update for Super Mario Party Jamboree. Alas, the latest patch seems to have fallen short of my expectations, much like a poorly-timed Power Star in a game of Mario Kart.

The first update for Super Mario Party on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, and Nintendo Switch OLED since their release last month has been issued by Nintendo, accompanied by details about the changes it brings. However, the update’s impact is minimal as there’s no new content added, and it primarily addresses a single bug fix that Nintendo deemed important enough to be released ahead of what seems to be a more substantial update in the future.

Although Nintendo has released the details of the update in their official patch notes, they haven’t shared the file size for this particular update. Typically, the extent of the patch notes might hint at a small download, but this assumption is based on the fact that this update seems to be addressing just one bug fix.

Super Mario Party Jamboree Update 1.1.1 Patch Notes

In simpler terms, a problem was resolved where, when choosing “Minigame Bay” > “Tag Match” > “Worldwide” as an “Online Match,” if the name (nickname) of the player who created the room and invited their friends was too long, an error message saying “There are no other participants. Returning to the Party Plaza.” would display on their device, ending the session for everyone involved, and causing the software to close for other participants as well.

As a die-hard Super Mario fan, I can’t help but wonder when the next Super Mario Jamboree update will drop. Unfortunately, Nintendo hasn’t shared any details about it yet. So, it remains to be seen whether the game will receive any post-launch content or not. It’s been over a month since the new Mario Party game launched, and this is the only update it’s gotten so far. This could potentially mean that updates for the game might be few and far between in the future.
