Super Mario RPG Hits Record Low Price – Don’t Miss Out!

Nintendo Switch’s first-party games seldom receive substantial discounts. While Nintendo occasionally reduces prices temporarily, it’s uncommon to find a game selling below $39.99 or even $29.99. This is particularly rare for games starring Mario, but there’s an exceptional case today. GameStop has reduced the price of Super Mario RPG to only $19.99, which is the lowest price it’s been since its release in the fall of 2023. If you’ve been hoping for a good price drop on this RPG, it’s unlikely we’ll see it go any lower.

The game titled Super Mario RPG is actually a reimagined version of a title initially launched on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1996. Over the years, the original Super Mario RPG has gained widespread acclaim as one of the SNES’s finest games, and fans have eagerly awaited its arrival via Nintendo Switch Online. Unfortunately, it appears that this may not materialize, with both Nintendo and Square Enix choosing to produce a remake instead. Nonetheless, traditionalists can take comfort in the fact that this reworked version maintains much of the original’s essence.

In the game titled “Super Mario RPG“, our well-known mustached character from Nintendo embarks on an adventure blending turn-based and platforming aspects. This game features a mix of traditional and new characters, with both Princess Peach and Bowser being playable, while also introducing fan favorites like Geno and Mallow for the first time. One significant upgrade in the Nintendo Switch version is that it enables players to switch freely between these playable characters during battles, providing additional chances to exploit their unique abilities.

In my 2023 critique for the game “Super Mario RPG”, I gave it a rating of 4 out of 5. One minor drawback I found was its cost, which could be challenging to accept; when the Wii U Virtual Console was operational, the SNES version could be purchased for less than $10. Currently, the $19.99 price is far more justifiable compared to the game’s original Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $59.99. Enhanced graphics and quality-of-life upgrades make the game a worthwhile investment at its reduced cost. I hope this GameStop sale encourages many more gamers, particularly those who haven’t played “Super Mario RPG” before, to experience it in any form.

Currently, it’s uncertain whether other retailers will imitate GameStop and lower their prices like they did. This kind of price drop is quite frequent during video game sales, as competitors like Amazon and Target typically respond swiftly by matching prices. The low price for Super Mario RPG might not last long, so if you’re keen on purchasing a copy, it’s best to act promptly, just in case the game runs out of stock!
